Our Gelatinized Red Maca powder is made from 100% Red Maca roots grown traditionally on a farming co-operative high in the Peruvian Andes. These roots, about the size of a radish, make up about 25% off the annual Maca harvest in Peru and contain the highest levels of phytonutrients of all Maca colors. Gelatinized Maca is pre-cooked in a special process that helps dissolve much of Maca root's starch content. This makes the final powder easier to digest. While some nutrients are altered in the heating process, Gelatinized Maca is still effective since it's quite concentrated. It takes about 4 Kg of Maca roots to create 1 KG of Gelatinized Maca Powder. Both medical studies and anecdotal evidence have shown Red Maca to be the most effective Maca color for bone health, prostate protection, increased female libido and overall hormone balance.
