Not only is this thing a complete piece of garbage but it's also a hazard to own
Not only is this thing a complete piece of garbage but it's also a hazard to own. First off, the spring contraption isn't nearly long enough to allow my slider to open more than 30%, and I'm not talking about a fancy multi-slide either. The first time attempting to open the door enough to walk out, the entire unit cracked open as the spring violently sprung across the house. If someone were standing to my left, they could have been seriously injured. Instead, I have a deep gauge in an adjacent wall where it made contact.Stay far away from this product.

I was not sure what to expect ordering this from the other reviews . I ordered a glass one for a screen door because of the reviews saying they do nothing . I’ve had mine in now for about a month and it works great. I could have got the screen one because the tension on this is strong but it works . I got it so people wouldn’t let my cat out and it closes right behind them. I’m very happy

The back side from part with the adhesive glue laminated was directly attached to the original Transport cover. No protection foil for the adhesive glue side was existing. Therefore the Installation was only possible with screws. The rest works, but I do not believe for a Long lifetime - the future will Show.

Does not have the power to shut heavier arcadia doors. Looks cheap also.

Disappointing
Not able to adjust tension, model shipped not exactly as model in install videos & pictures! Save your money & pay an expert for real hardware!

Cheap junk with no buffer - just slams the door closed.
I saw the other negative reviews around the web but thought I might be able to make it work anyway.I was wrong! There is plenty of spring tension, but without any buffer to slow it down at the end, it would just slam the door into the frame. It is just a plastic tube with a spring attached to a small string - not nearly the quality I would expect for the money. It is going back...

Does the job. Glad I bought it.
I hesitated on buying this because of the previous negative reviews, but after searching high and low for any other alternative, and finding none, I decided to take a gamble on this. It's far from a perfect product, and could benefit from several improvements, but there simply aren't any other options, and if you're as frustrated as I am yelling at kids multiple times a day to close the door in a hot desert climate, it's worth overcoming its shortcomings to maintain your sanity. What you get: - A rectangular tube with a string extending out one end of it, attached internally to a spring. (If you think you can DIY and make one, go for it.) There's a little clip on the string that essentially keeps it pulled out under tension, that you can slide up to keep the door open manually if you choose to do so. You can also use it to reduce/eliminate the pull tension on the string at some distance before it closes. - Double-sided tape all along one side of the above rectangular tube. - A hook with included tiny "nails" to attach to your frame somehow, to attach the end of the string to.Installation: - The instructions aren't very useful. I wouldn't bother to follow them step by step. A quick once-over to see how things go together and you can do the rest instinctively.... possibly necessary based on your door construction. - The hook was supposed to be nailed into the frame in line with where you'll attach the string. This can be problematic if you have a plastic frame or, like me, several small stair-step points making it impossible to attach as given. Fortunately it's "just a hook" and while Iw as able to bend the thing 90 degrees and install with my own nails, you may end up just getting some other hook fastener that you can put around the side of your door. - The double-sided tape installation means you get one shot at lining the thing up right. That's it. Forget about adjusting it later... well, it does have holes in either end for you to nail/screw into your door, which may be necessary if you don't put it in exactly the right spot to start with.Tension adjustment: - Too tight? You're SOL. You need to move the whole tube closer to the hook, which means that great double sided tape won't stick as well the next time. You might play with using the clip on the string to have the tension stop at some point before the door is fully closed. - Too weak? You can pull the string through the part that attaches to the hook and make it stronger. Bottom line, when installing it, better to make it too weak than too strong.First impressions: - Does what it's advertised to do. You do need a smoothly-sliding door... I also applied some WD-40 silicon spray to the tracks to smooth the door's progress. - Does make the door a little harder to open, but it's not bad at all for an adult, and worth it to me to dissuade the kids from going through it so often. - A little "cheap" for what it costs, but given the complete lack of any other product on the market that does the same thing, for anywhere near this price, it was worth it to me. I do not regret the purchase and I'd buy it again.Bottom line: If it's too expensive for you, do it yourself. You can probably rig something just as good up. But it's not as bad as other reviews would have you believe.
