Dog Food Storage
I bought this to store my 28lb bag of dog food. It works very well and the mouth is wide enough to easily reach in to get the kibble. However, I did not realize when ordering that the lid has a 1" hole in the top, making it not airtight, meaning I will need to get a plug or seal it some other way. But it's very easy on the eyes, unlike the clunky plastic tubs and metal cans that I had been looking at. I was also concerned for the plastic and metal toxicity so glass was the next best choice. I'm not your average reviewer (using this item outside its purpose) but I would recommend this product.

Very well made and easy to clean
I was disappointed with a couple of car boys that I ordered recently the typical complaints narrow opening hard to clean and the packaging they sent them offered subpar protection this fermenter on the other hand was in a big box surrounded by air cushion bags inside of another box that had protection on the sides as well as the bottom this thing is sturdy it has abig wide mouth to reach in there and clean my only gripe is the lid could stay on a little bit better but a little bit of vinyl tape and it's fine that stuff's easy to peel off and leaves no residue otherwise I haven't found anything online like this

Carboy is great, lid not so much
The glass carboy is very nice, thick and study. should last forever if not dropped. The lid though, doesn't fit right. Had to tape it down (as others have suggested) to get a proper seal. They should have a screw down lid, and have the cork/airlock pop if overpressured.

Love it
Nice thick glass. Fits perfectly in my mini-fridge fermenting vessel. The top does push off, but its designed to do that so that the carboy doesn't explode. If the lid were fixed and a blowoff tube or airlock clogged, the carboy would explode. Then the reviews would be complaining in a MUCH different direction.I think that the solution is a 1.25" OD/1" ID blowoff tube. I just ordered that and think it will solve the issue with the lid popping off. I did wire it on very loosely, keeping in mind that I would rather the lid pop off than the carboy explode if/when the tube/air lock clogs.

Love my glass 6.5 gallon wide mouths!
These are great for cleaning and sanitizing. Had one that arrived cracked at the bottom radius and the guys at Northern Brewing credited my account with no problems. I'm getting ready to order my 3rd. They are heavier than the plastic, but I got tired of the light weight plastic ones scratching and eventually cracking. I use these for primary wine fermentors with or without the covers/airlock. Much easier to keep clean and they last forever if you take care of them. : )

great quality, but lid does not seal which is bad for wine
I got this and the glass is very thick and sturdy, it's a great quality carboy with a big mouth for ease of cleaning, but the mouth being that big poses one problem, it's tough to keep air tight. The rubber seal on the lid that it came with fits loosely, and when pressed in does not stay in and squeezes itself out under no pressure.I "think" the solution to this problem is turning the rubber seal upside down where the large part of the taper is on the bottom, this seems to keep the lid on and seemingly is air tight, but I'd have to put a batch of wine in to see how it handles under pressure and I'm not willing to risk a batch like this.

Yes lid will pop off but....
The lid does want to pop off under pressure a little piece of tape on each side solved it. Sealed well (evident as why it wants to pop under pressure) which is most important. Easy to clean. Easy to pour in as well. Thick glass very durable. Will purchase another.
