True to size, light weight and look good - great for walking or standing.
Nice shoes - they look as good as they do in the photo, they're well-made, light weight, and they fit my wide feet as expected/hoped. True-to-size. This particular model is not made for off-road, so don't order it with that expectation. But for everyday walking or standing, they're comfortable and work well. They're also well-packed for shipping - won't be smashed down by the time they get to you.

Very comfortable; good for everyday use
The 877 shoe from New Balance is not only great for cross training as it's advertised, but from my experience, turns out to be a comfortable relaxed fit for casual walking/running and everyday use. The main reason I say this is because compared to other shoes that I have worn in the past, these shoes don't bother my feet when worn for considerable amounts of time throughout the day.I bought the previous 813 model around a year ago, and despite a couple of very minor gripes I had with them, the comfort of how the shoe felt when it was worn was undeniable; they were easily the most comfortable shoes that I owned at the time. The biggest (albeit very minor) gripe I had was that the area covering the toe was noticeably thin and seemed very fragile and easy to rip. I'm glad to see that the 877, the stated replacement for the 813, addressed this issue and made that area look and feel more durable. As for the look of this shoe, I think the style of the shoe is an upgrade to the 813's design as well. Of course this is a personal preference. However, the biggest factor for me when buying and wearing shoes: are they comfortable to wear and how do they feel when worn all day? A shoe can look great externally, but if it's not comfortable then what's the point? I'm glad to say that I found these shoes very comfortable. I wore them on a trip to the zoo recently, where I logged over 10,000 steps in half a day, and my feet did not feel sore at all. I noticed that some complained about the cushioning that the shoe provides, however that is a plus for me. I like shoes that provide cushioning when walking, and I didn't find it to be a problem. That was also something that sold me on the 813's, so I'm glad to see this carried over in the upgraded 877's. As I alluded to in my opening paragraph, these shoes do not seem to bother my feet when worn for a considerable amount of time throughout the day; they do not feel too tight and therefore allow my feet to breathe. I bought two pairs (one black, one grey/blue) and plan to use them for gym use as well as casual daily use.

I've moved on, but this was a good shoe
Shoes are such an individual thing and the same pair can fit one person like a custom mold and give another painful blisters. But for my purpose (I have wide, flat feet) this shoe was great. It never gave me any pain walking - not in the arch / heel / blisters / toebox. And it never compressed my foot and felt true to width (I had a 2E, depending in the shoe style I need either 2E or 4E). My gripes are mostly cosmetic and minor. I think it's a really ugly shoe because it has a very square toe box. So it makes it look like you are wearing fat, wide, squared off ortho shoes and doesn't really look like a sneaker. I've since moved on the 847v3 and that has a much more conventional 'sneaker' look and normal looking toe box and still is plenty roomy. The other thing is that the lining material inside the mesh parts wore out very quickly. So I had holes in the lining that were visible under the mesh from outside the shoe on the sides and in the toe box. But I wore them nearly daily as my commuter and "take walks at the office" shoes for about 1.5 years. I can't say I'm all that disappointed in how long they lasted. Oh and the insoles were pretty much worn out and done after that time also but are removable so easy enough to replace.

Good fit, good for balance
As an 80 yo I am always trying to shoes that will help with my balance issues. These shoes fit perfect straight out of the box. The sole is stiff and has good cushioning. I do believe that they have helped. I was so pleased with the brand I bought another pair, different style, with same satisfaction. Very pleased.

Good sneakers for a good price.
I've been wearing 840s for several years because they have a wide toe box and they are very comfortable but New Balance changed the design. I wanted to try the 877 because they also have a wide toe box. I like them, they have a little more heel support but they are not as cushioning as the 840. These sneakers are also about $50 less than the 840s.

NOT for serious walking.
These are very comfortable for casual wear around the house, or a quick trip to the store. I find the soles to be thin and soft. Not enough impact cushioning for spirited, or distance walking. A stiff insole didn't make any difference. Nicely made and cool in hot weather.

Fine shoes for exercise walkinig
First, let me say, these are athletic shoes from New Balance, not fashion statements. If you want cutesy running shoes, then order running shoes.I received these yesterday to replace my 6-year old New Balance 847 walking shoes. I read the reviews stating the toe box is large and boxy. Gee...The shoes fit very well. My feet feel well enclosed and do not move about anywhere. The toe box is perfect and also not loose, no matter how boxy they look.I went out for my 4-mile walk today and they felt great. Not too spongy in the sole and the sole has just the perfect amount of flex for shoes designed for...(Gasp!) walking for exercise. Are they cute? Maybe in a sort of armed forces way. They are certainly great looking to his old soldier (I'm 77).They are a nice replacement for a pair of shoes that are only worn for my long walks.I think I'll keep them.
