Massive catalouge of 20th Century firearms of all kinds...great reference...

Good reference for military firearms, only negative is that price is dated because book is over 10 yrs old. But for around 10 dollars not a bad deal.

As many of the reviewers pointed out, just a basic description of the weapons. Variations of individual weapons may be pointed out, but prices for those variations aren't necessarily mentioned. It typically only refers to the primary manufacturer of a weapon, even though other arsenals may have supplied the same weapon (which can mean a substantial pricing difference), the variations probably won't be there or barely mentioned. Also remember this is a MILITARY gun book, if you have a commercial version of the weapon or import for civilian sale it is most likely not there at all(AK-47s, AR-15 etc). I also expected some mention of importers and their markings to help identify the weapons. You can get as good or better information from most of the gun forums on the internet.

Difficult organization... by country rather than name/maker.

As a novice military firearms collector, I found this reference guide to be very helpful. It lists arms by country of origin; often with a brief history of each weapon's development and service use, usually listing all variants produced. The Index of firearms in the back makes finding a particular weapon easy. There is an updated C&R reference section as well that collectors may find helpful.As the author mentions in the introduction, prices are subject to market fluctuations. Therefore, this volume is merely intended to be a general guide to the value of a weapon. As such, I am unaware of anything of its equal.

Helped me properly ID some of my antique firearms in my collection and set accurate prices for re-sale. The price was much lower than the book store.

This is a very thorough and complete reference to military firearms of all kinds and I have found it very useful not only for figuring dollar values, but also for checking the authenticity of many firearms. Well worth the purchase.
