Volume 11 follows the tried and tested formula of previous releases - 30 tracks combining hits and rarities, all in the best possible sound, with in-depth sleeve notes from Rob Finnis. Ruby Baby - DION, Mathilda - COOKIE & HIS CUPCAKES, Smokey Joe's Café - THE ROBINS, Love Is Strange - MICKEY & SYLVIA and more!

It is not done better than this
I am a enthousiastic collector, and have almost all the Time Life rock n roll stuff, as well as Eric Records cds of this era. Although they are essential to any 50s 60s collection, nothing can top ACE series.I could comment like this on all the 50s remasters of this fabulous record label, not only their other editions, but especially the Golden Age of American Rock n roll. I can not add anything to the positive reviews than simply summing up my personal view:30 tracks per cd! (Time life is also excellent, but you get 15 per cd!)excellent booklets with background info (not surpassed by any label).not the same old songs over again, but many rare and still excellent tracks!last but not least amazing sound quality. So although you might have some songs there on other collections, it is for above mentioned points alone worth it to always have an ACE copy as well.

Better than Most
This edition of The Golden Age of American Rock'n' Roll, Volume 8, has a lot of good music. For me, the standouts (and seldom heard) are: "Tragedy" by Thomas Wayne, and "Here I Stand" by Wade Flemons and the Newcomers. These two have the best of everything.Betty LandrySouthampton, MA

Great Trip Back in Time
It is really neat to be able and get some of the songs that you do not hear on a regular basis. I plan on addings all 12 volumes to my collection.

disappointing
I own volumes 1-10 of this series, and Ace has done a fantastic job with this concept, and that is to chronicle American Rock'n'roll's first decade. This they have done by mixing big hits with, well, not so big hits. They have remastered this music from the best sources with great care, and have been equally fastidious in chronicling their history, both in words and illustrations. From the very first volume, it's always been a mixed bag. There will be songs you love, and songs that are "interesting", but maybe not worth hearing repeatedly. Unfortunately, there seems to be more songs in the latter catagory on this disc. Have they run out of "interesting" near hits that are actually good? Maybe. Also, after all these years, I already have almost all of the bigger hits on this collection, so I have to ask myself if it was really worth it to add volume 11 to my collection. Unfortunately, at this point, the answer is no.

Nice Collection
This volume in the "Golden Age of American Rock 'n Roll" series is a nice collection, but contains a few too many obscure numbers.

The Golden Age of American Rock'n'Rollシリーズのほかに US hits before the British invasionと謳っているようにビートルズなどイギリス勢は、一切入っていなく、アメリカの曲だけで構成されています。

Great RnR
More slowish tempo songs than foot tappers but still great listening if you love RnR.
