Junk! Sheds all over records!
I bought this at a records store with a name that rhymes with Kia thinking "oh it looks just like the Audioquest brush! It's probably the same". I only saved five bones compared to buying the Audioquest brush here on Amazon, and now all the records I've used it on have tiny carbon fiber bristles on them. I didn't realize it until today because while listening to a record I noticed a bunch of black garbage on my cartridge. Upon further inspection, it was a bunch of bristles all balled together somehow. I never touched the brush or got it wet, I followed the directions on the back to the letter. I took some clean tweezers to the brush where a small patch of bristles were sticking out, and they fell out with little hesitation. I didn't even have to pull on them. Luckily, they didn't end up on any of my records, they very easily could have ended up on my near mint copy of Steely Dan's "Aja" if I hadn't of noticed them. I haven't even owned the thing 24 hours, and it's already proven to be garbage. I honestly cannot believe that the quality control is so lax that after less than a day it begins falling apart. I suspect it's in part due to the instructions on back that say to clean the bristles by rotating the brush back and forth through the handle. In short, hopefully "Kia" Records gives my my $20 back for this sorry excuse for a carbon fiber brush, but they don't take returns on vinyl so I'm not overly hopeful. $20 is a lot of money for me, and to think I wasted it on this brush is just sad. I guess I've learned my lesson, "buy cheap buy twice". I've had great luck with "knock-off" and "no-name" products in the past (Agile guitars, Monoprice cables and headphones), I guess my luck has finally caught up with me. Now I have more motivation to build myself a vacuum cleaning machine for my records and buy a zerostat gun. I hope my wallet can forgive me...
