Raaka Pink Sea Salt Chocolate Gift Box | 71% Cacao Dark Chocolate | Organic, Vegan, Gluten Free | Box of 30 Individually Wrapped Chocolates

Let me start by saying I don't like Dark Chocolate. My chocolate of choice is Belgium Milk Chocolate. I didn't buy these to satisfy any chocolate cravings, I bought them because I had heard two things about dark chocolate; 1) it was good for your brain and 2) unfortunately, some big manufacturers were using dark chocolate with alarming rates of Lead and Cadmium. So what's an old woman to do?I looked around and since I choose the Weight Watchers life style I figured these mini doses were my best shot at getting a little dark chocolate in my life. I live in Florida. It started getting really hot here (winter at the beginning of 2023 was OVER) in June. Fedex delivered these chocolates with a little cold pack which had lost all it's cold by the time the package was delivered, BUT none of the chocolates were melted so I guess it made the difference. It was 93° the day it was delivered around 3:30PM EDT (hottest part of the day here).In my research, I wanted to purchase fair trade items which this was. I liked their process for drying the beans which only takes a week according the Raaka's web site as a report on the web speaking to the Lead and Cadmium issues said that leaving the beans out for long periods of time (like 28 days) gave more opportunity for the beans to be affected by those two heavy metals. While Raaka wasn't specifically tested (so I guess I'll never know), the Pink Sea Salt cacao beans come from the Dominican Republic. These are also "unroasted" beans, meaning the nutritional value is not damaged by the 250° roasting process that many manufacturers use.Like I said, I don't like dark chocolate because it's generally bitter. This chocolate was, in fact, not milk chocolate, but by the same token while I was taking a photo of the box I stopped paying attention to the fact I had one in my mouth and having left it on my tongue I will say some very cool, amazing aromas came out the longer I kept it on my tongue and it was creamy like Belgium chocolate. So maybe it's not milk chocolate. I eat enough green things that aren't exactly great tasting that I can overlook the fact it's not a milk chocolate neutral flavor. It's 2 Weight Watchers points for one of these wonderful chocolate Mini Dose journeys so it fits well into my points plan. I understand you probably have to have a ton more chocolate to get the appropriate amount in your system for the benefit, but I'm going to take it from here and see what I notice about having a piece of these every day. I did specifically order the Pink Sea Salt flavor for the way it was processed so I can't tell you what any of the other flavors taste like. Different beans are used for different flavors so your mileage may vary if you order the other flavors.Each Mini Dose piece (30 to a box) is about 1.6" x 1". The entire box size is 6" x 4.5" (a little over 1.5" high). The expiration date on my box said September of 2024 so if you have the ability to order enough for 6 months or a year, they'll last long enough. I don't, so I'll have to order them one month at a time. LOL!

I'm very happy with this Raaka pink sea salt Chocolate, I though being unroasted it may be bitter but it wasn't and with the sea salt made it just more yummy ! Kuddos to there shipping department I live in the hottest community in the U.S. (google it) they shipped it in a fedex envelope inside that was another silver lining envelope, and then another silver envelope with a cold pack in it. my chocolate came to me not melted, Bravo Raaka !! Not like the other chocolate I bought were they just put it in a bubble env. and a cold pack, the cold pack was hot and so the chocolate was melted.Again Raaka, I will buy my chocolate from you from now on, GREAT CHOCOLATE AND GREAT SHIPPING!

I usually like Raaka chocolate, but this box was nothing but disgusting. It was old, and the chocolate had already bloomed - the separation of the cacao mass and butter was visible, and it smelled very bad, it was weird to the touch. On top of it the box and the chocolate wrapping were very damp and greasy. It is also not an elegible product for return - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this overpriced chocolate that has probably stayed in Warehouse for a long time.

Delightful chocolate. Just the right size.

I had such great hopes for the zorzal chocolate (shade grown from the Dominican Republic) but the bars of that flavor were not very good. They were very salty, perhaps an attempt to cover the bitter chocolate flavor. The other flavors (non-zorzal) were good, more what US taste buds are used to. The zorzal chocolate is much more traditional, a little like Mexican chocolate, with a bitter undertone that takes some getting used to.

Research this company. They seem to be big on transparency. They claim to do right by the farmers and test for metals like Lead and Cadmium. The chocolate is smooth, and based on the latest news, they seem to be one of the better brands out there. Hopefully I’m not wrong.

This candy is not sweet enough for me. It does not have a pleasant flavor.

Got these for my son who likes 100% cacao (unsweetened). He loves them.
