Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons: Live In Concert

A Blast From The Past!
I grew up in listening to this music in the 60s. This is a very good rendition of the music of the day. No, the Four Seasons are not the original members, they captured the sound with flair. The video is quite good, the audio is very average for a live concert. I own a lot of concerts of different genera, I find rock concerts are pretty typically very loud with so many instruments. The lead singer is often drowned out by all the other musicians, added to that is the poor acoustics of a large venue. That said, this one is better than most. Franki punches through enough so that it sounds very much like the original. If only we could time travel, oh well, this is as close as one can get. I count this one as a gem in my collection.

Great addition for Frankie Valli Fans
Bought this as a gift and it was very well received. The video quality could have been better, but it was from a concert so can’t really complain. Fans of Frankie will love it.

30th Anniversary concert is unmatchable
What do you say about the most "famed" band for doing concerts? This is it! Yes, they do many of their songs spanning the 30 years of Rock and Roll, and yes they can do more songs, but just listen and enjoy what they have put together for the 30th anniversary concert. I saw this concert when it was here in Chicago and the teenagers who joined my sons, stopped in their tracks to hear the perfect harmony and soft tones when the 4 seasons performed the "Do Wop" songs, "Remember When", "Sunday Kind of Love" and "Blue Moon". This caused them to stand around and literally got knocked for a loop when they heard the 4 Seasons sing "Silence is Golden". The soft and smooth rendition relaxed these teens, who couldn't believe these guys were singing "LIVE". They only saw groups who worried more about dancing and doing special effects while lip singing rather then entertain their audience with refined talent. All of this was caught for your enjoyment on this DVD. The only down side I saw about this conert they recorded was that the crowd at this concert took half the concert to loosen up before they got into it. Their loss! If you want a better crowd, get a copy of the "20th Anniversary concert" This crowd was loose and it showed and played well on the recording. However, the concert can only be found on VHS. This is a plead for the 4 Seasons to put this, "20th Anniversary", on DVD for better enjoyment. This tape has also been sold as "Frankie Valli - Hits from the 60's" I hope this helps you decide to buy this part of Rock and Roll history. I now sit and wait for the 40th anniversary concert which comes here in August. I hope they will again entertain us and put it on DVD for all to see. Frankie is now in his middle 60's and I know there won't be too many more conerts left, unless he can pull a Tony Bennett. So buy this for something to pass down to the generations like we do with Elvis. For Frankie Valli is the "King of Falsettos".

Frankie can still sing!
I liked the 2.0 surround, but wished it was 5.1. Frankie can still sing! He can’t hit the very high notes anymore, but i expected that and his background singers were legit. I could only give it a 4 because my disc froze several times throughout.

Good Concert DVD
I saw the Four Seasons, back in 1981 in Colorado, When they were in there prime.Consisting of Frankie Valli,Don Ciccone,Gerri Polci,Jerry Corbetta(Sugarloaf),Larry Lingle. D. Cummings(Leatherneck) above, made the comment that they were just a bunch of guys and no originals, other than Frankie Valli;WRONG!! In this Concert there was Frankie Valli,Larry Lingle and there bass guitar player Rex Robinson(Who Sang bass),of all which were in the 1981 concert I saw. As for Frankie Valli looking tired and bored,he was not much different in 1981.between 1981 until this concert CD,Frankie had gone through a divorce and a son had died. I feel the concert was very professional and good. They did a different version of 'Beggin', but was as good as the original. In Some songs he did not sing the high notes like he use to do, but you would never know the difference, unless you're a die hard fan. If the 20th anniversary concert DVD, becomes available, it will be better than this concert as far as the energy is concerned,as compared to the 1981 concert. All in all, I only give this four stars, simply that it this concert lacks a little energy compared to the 1981 concert I attended, but this concert DVD is still worth getting for the great concert that it is. And Yes they did a great job singing the rest of the songs!!

Frankie Valli
What I could hear was great. However, I had to return it, due to technical problems on some tracks.

What a concert!
This concert is absolutely superb, eye-wateringly so! I've had this stored on a VHS tape recorded from the TV in 1992, and had only just thought about looking for a DVD of the same. The DVD is also 76 minutes long, whereas the TV VHS version was only 50 minutes (and probably included adverts).Perfect quality, in glorious stereo sound, very clear, with lovely deep bass as well! Frankie and his Gang at their very best! No wonder they were so popular. Well-deserved success, go Frankie, go! - or, to quote Dion, 'Yo Frankie!'Obviously in the original 4:3 format, which is what we had on standard TV during those pre-widescreen 16:9 days. Recorded at 25 fps (frames per second), the European PAL standard, NOT at 30 fps NTSC American version. If you see this and are in doubt, do so no longer, buy, buy, buy!

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons reunion concert 1982
I was really disappointed with the quality of this. Had it on video years ago. There seemed to be 6 seasons instead of 4 none if who were the original.Considering the advances in dvd quality I expected better. You can see the effort put in by the group, however it was let down by a bad recording.

What can you say? Absolutely brilliant. Totally addicted and takes me back to when I used to play and play and play records until I knew all the words.

If you love the Four Seasons you will love this DVD of one of their past live shows, much cheaper than buying tickets to their new shows. Very enjoyable.
