Un-Trumping America: A Plan to Make America a Democracy Again

I thoroughly enjoyed Un-Trumping America. I enjoy listening to Dan and the rest of the gang at Pod Save America, which is a great podcast. Dan's experience, wit, humor and intellect make him a joy to listen to and a joy to read. In this book he gives us hope and great ideas on how to make this country better after we remove the corrupt, anti-intellectual disaster of a president we now have. How to rebuild the presidency and the government so that it works for the people as originally planned, not for the corrupt and wealthy few. He is a realist. You never feel like he is throwing out ideas that are easy, and never gives the impression that all this can be done in one Democratic presidency. He leaves us a blueprint for the future. Something activists can keep striving for and pushing the Democrats as the way forward.

I am a fan of Pod Save America and I am a person who feels it is absolutely necessary to get Donald Trump out of the White House. I preordered this book and read it on the day it arrived -- its official date of publication -- and I have referred to it at least a couple of times in conversations with other politically active people. I will probably read it again in its entirety, soon, as it is also entertaining. UN-TRJMPING AMERICA has good tactical plana for putting a Democrat in the White House, and it is a fun book to read.

An interesting read for me in that the author does speak to the manner in which the Democrats may be able to win in 2020. That portion did sound feasible in that it covers first time voters and how to win over new voters.I thought that his statement 'Don't rely on mainstream media to get your message out' was a good point. I would not rely on them either.He also goes into great detail about how to defeat Trump and two of those points are immigration and trade. Personally not so sure about the trade portion now that a 'deal' has been signed with China.In several instances I do wish there had been accompanying footnotes instead of a generic statements which said 'one study or according to one study'. I would have liked to read who said what and when...The author writes a significant amount on court reform and how to accomplish those objectives. The Supreme Court is also mentioned ... And, Senator McConnell's name is brought up...no surprise there..Lots of points to ponder in this one.. One knows from the title that it will not be a "Trump friendly" book. So, do as I did and read as objectively as you can. (I was surprised to find quite a number of 'f' words in this ...not sure the reason they had to be included but....)On a personal note, I have friends on both sides of this 'battle' and as one would suspect, both sides are adamant about the reasons for victory. And, if I complained about the lack of civility before, it has reached a fever pitch now. Rhetoric is increasingly nasty and tempers are beginning to boil over.Highly recommend and for several reasons...Interesting with some ideas on how to win ...

This book is fantastic! I hope it gets high readership because it’s full of information that we should know, but don’t. Dan’s ability to explain what happened, why, and what we need to do is laid out in a logical, concise manner. His credibility is unparalleled. He was a key player in the Obama White House and has shared his experiences and lessons learned through the Pod Save America podcast and his books ever since. Keep up the fight Dan! We need to hear from you. You are a committed patriot and a gifted communicator.

While it's hard to say you "enjoyed" a book that is so honest about overwhelming problems, I was always inspired by the multiple comments on clear action items that can and NEED to be taken on multiple levels. Overall it gave what I feel is a clear picture of the great challenges (without sugar-coating) and possible plans to fix it. I loved this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who cares about the future of America.

UNTRUMPING AMERICA was the lift I needed as we head into this voting season. Pheiffer’s insights from his experiences are enlightening and his suggestions offer readers a way to contribute. HIs progressive ideas are exactly what this country needs. His sense of humor keeps the weighty subjects tolerable, but the seriousness of the situation is still never lost. Readers will agree with him at the conclusion, yes we still can...and this is our blue print to do it.

While I’m not the die-hard Democratic Party wonk that Dan is, I am easily as anti-Trumpism as he is. Which also means we share similarly negative views on the Republican Party, which for all practical purposes no longer exists.As much as I disdain the thought, fact is ... he’s right. We will need not only a Democratic President, but Democratic majorities in both the Senate and the House if we’re going to fix this. But they have to be 110% about fair governance so it remains fair for all citizens and all parties by the 2024 election cycle.

This is a political book that is both hopeful and inspiring for people living through the age of Trump. Dan Pfeiffer uses his experience of working with Barack Obama to propose a compelling way forward for the Democratic Party. The book is also wonderfully entertaining with superb snarky footnotes
