This is fabulous - use it right in the pot for mashed potatoes, broccoli for soups, or any roasted/cooked foods that I want mashed but not pureed or over-worked like a mixer/food processor would do. Easy to clean if you rinse it right off - the brush is handy for other kitchen cleaning too - but usually I just soak the masher if food is dried in it. I dribbled a little olive oil into the center hole as it squeaked when we got it.

Mashing the potatoes is not as easy as represented in most of the reviews. The ricer part sticks to the masher prongs often during the mashing process. It is a sturdy tool and will probably last a long time, but I could not enthusiastically recommend it to anyone.

Hard to press down on, and the handle is most definitely too short, unless you're only mashing three potatoes. I no longer use it.

My grandmother also mashed her potatoes by hand but until recently I had always done with a mixer. Then I went to a friend's house for dinner and was amazed at how her mashed potatoes tasted and she showed me her old fashioned potato masher. So, when I was looking for that I came across this masher with a ricer on it. I am always seeing chefs using these on cooking shows and I thought, hey the best of two worlds. When I review things I always review them in two ways. First, for how useful they are and then how useful they are for me. I am disabled and in a wheelchair. My counter tops however are not wheel chair friendly so some kitchen gadgets are more trouble than they are worth. The potato masher does it's job well. I would say to make sure your potatoes are good and soft from the boiling. As long as the potatoes are soft, this works very well. And the ricer and masher come together and that adds a huge difference from just a normal masher. I like to add sour cream, cheese, and butter to my potatoes. As long as the potatoes are still hot and I fold the cheese in initially, I can go back and easily mash it all together. I did spray the masher with a little cooking spray to insure the cheese wouldn't stick. Now as far as ease of use. This product has to be used on a firm flat surface. I can't hole the bowl are the pot in one hand and use that with the other. With that said, it mashes quite easily and I can stand for short amounts of time so I can use it.

Incredible! I never thought that mashing potatoes could be so easy! Even when soft, the mashers and ricers that I have used have not done an adequate job without extensive effort on my part. This product cuts my work in half and works like a gem!In addition, I have used this when making tomato sauce. I like to use whole tomatoes and break them down while cooking leaving my sauce a little chunky.
