A very effective device for the price
I note that the cheaper versions of this device occasionally have complaints. There seem to be two cheaper versions - one at about £60 and one at £90. This one is almost double the price, but you get what you pay for I suppose.Device used so far with a couple of hundred 35mm positives and some large colour photographs. Results were very good, but some slides slipped out of place in the slide-holder. Occurs with thinner cardboard slides, remedy I have used is to cut a narrow strip of printer paper, cut it into short lengths and fold it like a hinge, then place it over the bottom of the slides before closing the slide. This holds the thinner ones in place. It is a minor nuisance sometimes. Plastic frames don’t do this because they are much thicker, and some of the heavier cardboard frames are exempt also.Device also does photos of various sizes with very good results. Negatives not tested.I have had no problems so far with “cropping”, but that could happen if you don’t read the manual.I would recommend this device to my friends.

Very easy to use
Brought this as a gift. It was very easy to set up and use. The unit is light weight which makes moving the item extremely simple. The viewing screen however is rather small and difficult to see.

Not impressed
Rather poor quality scans, with slides, negatives & prints, quite unsharp even at the high 16-megapixel resolution.I purchased this for digitising mainly my slides, but also negatives, rather than prints, and expected for its high price it would give good results. As regards the slide/negative trays, the negatives are not a problem, but for the Kodachrome slides I have, they tend to drop down out of their seating in the slide tray (see image) even when the tray is fully snapped shut. If the slide tray slotted into the unit flat rather than vertical this wouldn't be a problem. The unit will, however, take the slide tray the other way up, with the hinged part at the bottom rather than the top which overcomes this. Though the whole slide image and part of the slide's mount can be seen when seated in the slide tray itself, the image on the screen and resulting scan crops off part of the image for some strange reason. Both slide and negative trays seem rather flimsy too, and being awkward to prise open, feel they won't last very long.Slotting in the SD card is tricky, it's not spring-loaded as you usually find, so it doesn't click into place or out again when removing, and you really have to push hard to get it fully in. This makes it even trickier trying to get the card back out.Scans produce a high contrast, but muddy looking image, and though both brightness and RGB colour balance can be adjusted via the menu, the screen's so small it's best to give this a miss and make adjustments afterwards in Photoshop. As for prints, my Epson printer/scanner (which cost HALF the price of this unit) is far superior (see the two sample images, one from Digitnow and the other brighter, clearer one from the Epson scan). Both are straight scans of 7" x 5" prints without any digital correction; the Epson one matches the original print in exposure and colour balance. I've not scanned slides before so unlike this print, can't compare, but I feel slides/negatives should also be far superior quality, especially for its high price. Despite much tweaking in Photoshop, it's hard to get a decent result.I don't feel compelled to scan any more slides or negatives other than the sample ones I've tested due to the poor quality, and will willingly pay more for a scanner that will produce more professional results. Arranged return of this, as it won't be getting used again.

Digital picture .
Got this to get out pictures scanned in professional quality. It scans it perfectly and saves all into memory card directly. On top it has its own digital led display. Makes much easy to see and set to right position. It scans pictures in 3.5”x5”, 4”x6” and 5”x7” by using back slot. Very easy to use, just straight forward, no professional training needed. It also scanned directly from 35mm film in to the digital memory card.It came with usb charge cable which can connected directly to power bank, which makes it extremely portable.Overall great product which easy to use and gives great quality result.Have a look to my pictures to see real size, hope it will be helpful to decide if it’s suitable for personal needs or not.

A small but annoying defect
Have used it to scan both photos and slides. It is a competent scanner and produces very usable copies allowing editing and sharing. However the slide carrier has serious defect in that the slides drop out of the retaining ‘frame’ when they are inserted into the scanner resulting in a black edge to the top of the image, requiring some subsequent cropping as well as some small loss of content. This could, I am sure, be easily corrected by a small change to the mould tool for the slide carrier. If you decide to do this, please send me the improved version!

Expensive but a reasonable quality
It scans images to a reasonable quality but not as good as a regular scanner. On this basis I feel it was a bit over priced.

Not that easy to use
I bought this to digitise 35mm slides, film strips and various sized photos but after a short time I found that using this unit was very slow as each strip, slide and photo had to be loaded and unloaded individually in a somewhat flimsy mount. Photos not the exact size of the frame were incline to fall into the scanner and were hard to remove. I returned the scanner as unsuitable as I had thousands of photos to digitise and felt that this product would take me forever and bought a more suitable one although my new one does not do photographs.
