Great Recipes and a Clean Look!!!
I want to start this off by saying overall, I was very impressed by this book! Some reviews are correct in saying that there are some advanced recipes and techniques in some parts but they are definitely mixed in with some simpler, but still tasty, recipes. The Shrimp and Melon Skewers were a SMASH HIT with the family. Everyone loved how it came out and my only complaint is that this dish wasn't in my life sooner. And how could I not mention the Strawberry, Watermelon, and Basil Blitz!!! This has very quickly become my go to drink for when I want to relax and treat myself. A delicious treat of a drink and a huge success from this book. All in all, I simply cannot complain at all. I may not end up loving every recipe but please show me a cookbook with 100% success rate. The other reviews are far too critical in my opinion, there are some great recipes in here and any teen interested in cooking can find new dishes to make at whatever level they are. Not to mention, there are more advanced recipes that they can make as they further their culinary adventures. The colors and pictures are very aesthetically pleasing and the instructions are clear enough to follow. This cookbook truly impressed me and I cannot wait to develop more skills in the kitchen as I work through the rest of the hundred recipes.5 STARS!!!

Noah made it very easy to read and follow.
Noah has made it simple to read and follow. Very creative meals to make in such a short time. I bought others to give as gifts and even donated one to a local program that has their our kitchen. They have already started to use it in their menu planning.

Great first book
I bought this book for my 15 year old son and I am really happy with it. I disagree with other reviewers who claim the recipes are too “fancy”. Everything he made so far was delicious and easy to do, with simple fresh and healthy ingredients. I just wish there were more photos, otherwise, excellent first cookbook for healthy eating habits!

Good starter cookbook for teens
This is a good book to get young cooks started on making meals. There are 100 recipes that are easy to follow. The top corner of each recipe lists its features, such as if it is gluten free or vegetarian. In a sidebar, it also lists the time required and some tips to making the recipe. The recipes have a little blurb about the food, a list of ingredients, and about five to ten steps to make it. The recipes use whole and natural ingredients and set a good standard for healthy eating. There are seven chapters in this book: Get Cooking!, which is about getting started and healthy eating; Breakfasts; Salads and Soups; Mains for One, which has hearty, single serving recipes; Family Dinner; Sides and Snacks; and Drinks and Desserts. My daughter enjoys cooking and has eagerly tried several recipes from this book. She has had some questions for me about the ingredients before she starts, but otherwise has completed the recipes successfully on her own.I wish there were more pictures in this book. I think cooks that are new to making foods by themselves, like my daughter, really benefit from seeing what the finished product is like. Photographs also helps motivate my daughter to make something that she thinks looks good rather than having to read the recipe and decide if she might like to try it. She immediately wanted to make the acai bowl that is pictured on the front cover and the shrimp that was at the beginning of the Family Dinner section.Even without pictures of every item, my daughter has been enjoying this book. She likes the ease of making most of the recipes and I am glad that she wants to do more than just bake, so that she can learn healthier eating habits for when she is on her own.

Interesting, but leaves some to be desired
I am a school nurse serving about 700 teenagers. I like having recipes or suggestions to give to kids or parents a a new way to incorporate healthy cooking or a new ingredient into their lives. This book did help to explain various cooking principles and techniques, I felt that each recipe could have had some pictures, or more pictures since the targeted age group is of the younger generations. it seems that pictures were only for a transition to a new chapter. It would have been nice for people to see the presentation that their new food should take. May also help to get them excited to try a specific food. Think of a menu at a restaurant, most go for the ones they can see! The tags of "gluten free" or "vegetarian" are good to see for those that need to be a bit more restrictive in their food choices. The ingredients are not everyday ingredients most kitchens have, so if interested in cooking some of the recipes, I suggest reading them first to create a list of needed ingredients. Crystallized ginger? Brie? Definitely not in my pantry or fridge! However, again I do feel that sampling these types of foods can encourage teens and even their parents to try a new ingredient for their palette! Also, the tips on where to find specific ingredients or history about them was a little lesson! There was a nice variety of length of cooking time. I honestly prefer something that is simple and quick, and while many of the recipes called for less than 10 ingredients, some had a longer cooking time.Recipes I do enjoy - the dressings! I love having homemade dressings, so it was nice to have salads and a paired dressing. While I will use some of the recipes, I don't know if I would purchase this book for others. My copy was provided by Callisto's publisher free of charge.

Disappointing
Bought this book for my 12 yr old daughter as a stocking filler. Pretty disappointed to find that there were hardly any pictures of food or the dishes in the book. Not child or teen friendly in my opinion

No pictures of how the dishes should look
Overall the selection of recipes is good and the instructions look simple to follow my only reservation on giving the book a five star is the fact there are no images in the book of what any of the dishes should look like when cooked.
