Brainydeal 6 inch LCD Digital Vernier Caliper/Micrometer Gage 150 mm

Works fine, will probably last a long time. It's perhaps a rare individual who needs a micrometer, but for the job there's no other option; fast accurate measurements of small items is a rarely needed but incredibly valuable piece of information.This tool is precise, repeatable and well made mechanically - I can see myself using it for years to come. It came well packaged with protective wrap around it's own case and everything I needed to start using it immediately.I've tested it on three items I knew the accurate dimensions of, and have checked repeatability on other items - in every case it exceeded my expectations. This is a great tool.

I ordered these calipers for use in the field, measuring insects. In the photo (and in real life!), they look like the same brand sold by BioQuip. However, the movement of the caliper is rough and kind of jerky; the spin wheel floats weirdly. I compared them with a set from BioQuip and although they look nearly identical, they behave very, very differently.The measurements are repeatable to 0.01 mm, but they are jerky to operate and I am working with live insects - do not want to accidentally squeeze them because I can't control the caliper movement... I blame myself for trying to be too thrifty. I'll be keeping these for backup, but ordering a better set for my research needs.

For the price of this caliper I was really impressed ! It is actually pretty accurate and will keep a consistent zero, and didn't jump ! Not the smoothest but works very well so far !

Wow, unbelievable buy at only $12!! I only needed a decent caliper to check screw diameters and hole sizes in my garage workshop, so getting an expensive Mitsutoyo was over kill for me. This caliper does exactly what I need for such a bargainAnd to top it off, it comes with a spare LR44 battery inside its case.

I purchased these to use when I reload ammunition. I have access to precision measuring instruments and standards at work and used those standards to check the accuracy of these calipers. At many different lengths (1", 2" 3" etc) they were no more than 0.002" from true. This was repeatable and was done at various temperatures. While this level of accuracy is by no means astounding it is great at this price point and for my use. It does seem to go through batteries so I remove them when the unit is not in use as I figure only the screen if off when it turns itself ”off"

Basically the calliper metal frame was poorly made, not smooth to operate and with rough edges. The error was .004" when measuring a 1" standard, this really isn't good enough. I was replacing a 6" calliper on which the display had broken so I took the electronics off this and attached it to the old calliper frame. It worked fine so I trashed the frame from this machine - its working life was less than half an hour. In future I'll buy the cheapest calliper available with compatible electronics and repeat my cannibalisation trick.
