Door Smoocher Child Pet and Baby Proof Sliding Pocket Door and Swing Door Lock

Great solution to keep our shifty cat out of the kitchen, lol! This is worth every penny. One of our foster kittens has learned to open the pocket door that leads to the kitchen where all of my plants are. I was afraid that the kittens would eat the plants and get sick. I struggled finding something to lock the pocket door, but that we would be able to open on both sides. This little gadget is simple to install and works so well! No more kitties in the kitchen and the door opens and closes with ease.

This is a really cool gadget! So glad I found it. We had a situation where we needed to secure 2 pocket doors (since our new greyhound figured out how to open the doors with her needle nose!) I found this little thing -- a door smoocher - and thought it was worth a try. One of the real bonuses is that the directions are the clearest directions I have ever read to assemble anything! There are photos for each step of the way (and actually, the steps are quite easy--but the photos are still reassuring.) There is also a video posted on line where I watched a demonstration of how to mount it to the door. The kit comes with absolutely everything you need to install it -- even the right size drill bit, which I thought was a great idea! (Especially since I didn't have one that small.) It also comes with these little sliders you might need if your pocket door, when closed, doesn't go flush against a wall. (I didn't need that -- but if I did, they were there.)Sure beats using a hook& eye and messing up the woodwork. Furthermore, I appreciate the ingenuity that someone had to come up with such a useful product. Buy it without hesitation. You'll use it - and it works!

I have a couple of large pocket doors in my house, including one on my bedroom. My cat figured out how to open it, and we don't like the cats in our room because they tend to "do as they please" when we are not around.This device is easy to install on the door itself, but I had to "build out" a place to put it on the frame, because otherwise it would be inside the frame and not connect properly. The frame piece came with thin spacers, but it wasn't nearly enough to pull it out far enough for the door device to connect and I had to use small pieces of wood as well. The frame piece should either be thicker, or come with thick spacers so you can get it out far enough and not have ugly pieces of wood behind it (which also had to be screwed into the frame channel where the door would normally sit, leaving a gap when the door is closed).The entire thing is also made of plastic, and I'm concerned it will eventually break. I really think this should be made of metal instead.Edit: Today, July 21, 2023, it finally broke. I slide it up, but it didn't clear the little pocket it sits and and the tab sheered right off. To make matters worse, I just came to Amazon to buy another one, and now they don't carry it.Luckily, they sell new ones at doorsmoocher.com.

Having to keep pets separated and needed a lock for our swinging door (between kitchen and dining room). There was just enough of a gap for us to mount this on the door frame. It's easy to use with one hand which comes in handy when you are carrying items. Definitely recommend!

Not workable

Our beagle mix is a little too smart for his own good and figured out how to open the pocket door to the laundry room, where we keep him while we're away from the house during the day (after a few peeing-in-the-hall incidents).This was dead simple to install, and I really appreciated the clear instructions which came with it, along with the fact that they even included the right size drill bit to make pilot holes for the screws. One thing to know, however is that your door WILL NOT slide into its pocket all the way when open, however there are rubber stops on the parts you use to unlock this device which keep it from damaging the frame. The door will stick out about 1" or so from the pocket. To us, worth it.The best part? Seeing the pup still in the laundry room, waiting comfortably for us when we came home after installing this and locking the door. Highly recommend this product, very well designed, unobtrusive, and easy to use.

This childproof door latch is also great for keeping cats out of the pantry. My little guys can actually slide the pantry door open, however with this latch, the pocket door stays secure! Sorry kitties, no more midnight snack raids!
