zombies in love... i mean, in heat...
Full disclosure: the author of this book is my son. I honestly don't feel that this fact has in any way affected my enjoyment or assessment of the book.Zombie porn... a genre whose time has come. Yes, this story is equal parts pornography and horror, switching effortlessly between salacious and disturbing (and often both simultaneously.) Basic premise: young Cassie Yearwood unknowingly returns from her Barbados vacation with an unheard of disease that will ravage her small midwestern hometown of Fulton Flats, Idaho. STZ... sexually transmitted zombism... soon turns the residents of this fundamentalist haven into sex-obsessed cannibals. Cassie's friends Clay and Jerry, along with their new friend Tara, who has recently transplanted to Fulton from San Francisco, have only one plan... to escape Fulton Flats alive. As mentioned earlier, this book is a delicious blend of hardcore porn (although not really of the "bow chicka wow wow" variety) and zombie horror, with a generous portion of hilarious satire tossed in to make it go down (so to speak) easier. Mostly, it's a prime example of what my son Andrew has always done best, which is making me extremely proud and extremely uncomfortable all at the same time.

Don't let the boring cover fool you! STZ is packed with bloody adventure, sharp wit, and gratuitous sex.
When the town good-girl goes on vacation to the tropics, she comes back with more than a tan. Fulton Flats, Idaho quickly becomes ground zero for a sexually transmitted zombie virus that turns everyday folks into sex-crazed, flesh-eating monsters. A recent transplant who finds herself immune to the infection teams up with the local misfits to combat the threat and attempt to save Fulton Flats before the zombies take over. The book is well written, action packed, and full of humor that keeps you turning page after page. It certainly could use some polishing to fix a few typos and repeated words, but don't let that distract you. The imagery is wonderful, the humor is plentiful, and the characters are real enough to make you attached. One of my few complaints was that the gore was always zombie related and (semi-spoiler alert) never involved the main characters, so none of the exposed bones and torn flesh really made me squirm. When I read horror, I want main characters to get mauled and lose limbs. The ending felt a tinge more than contrived and lacked a big plot twist that I was hoping for. - Stuart Thaman, www.stuartthamanbooks.com

Okay. No, really...
It's pretty okay and funny, too. What's really funny is the loads of liberal cliches crammed into it: World War Z meets Huffington Post...

Pleasantly surprised at the delightful morbidity
Wanted a low impact diversion, received a scarily arousing gore fest that entertained me. Brava Sir. Now I need a shower.

Sexually Transmitted Zombie Virus!
Cassie goes wild on her vacation and has a much sex as she possibly can before returning to her boring hometown in Idaho. Cassie becomes sick and dies shortly after her return. The town turns up to mourn this "good girl," but one particular person gets a little too close and becomes infected with the same mysterious malady that killed her. The pheromones that the people with the virus give off makes everyone sexually attracted to the opposite sex...in most cases anyway. Will Tara, Clayton, and Jerry be able to escape without being molested. Or worse, before they become the molesters?STZ was gross in a "dude, are you making out with my mom?" type of way. It was fun in a "let's see how many times I can drive over them before they can be killed" type of fun. It was hilarious at times because this virus caused people to think things they normally wouldn't and I couldn't help but laugh at some of the lines Clayton and Jerry slung around.Be warned: Sex in a zombie-like state takes place in this book. It is not sexy sex unless you're into that sort of thing. It is not as extreme as I thought it would be for those of you on the fence about reading it. Give it a go!I will read something else by this author. Maybe there will be a book 2?*I was given a copy in exchange for a honest review*

Disturbing yet compelling take on the zombie genre
I wasn't really sure what to expect when I picked up "STZ", but having read Nienaber's previous "Truly, Deeply Disturbed", I figured it would be upsetting, graphic, and funny. I was not disappointed. The narrative is great, with a generous helping of sarcasm and disdain for mid-western conservative America. The dialogue is snappy and funny, the characters are memorable. When its time to get sexy, it achieves. And when it's time to get gory, Nienaber delivers. Usually those last two are more or less at the same time, so you may be disturbed by your inappropriate arousal. Don't be. Revel in the juices (literally) that flow from these pages.

funny and absolutely filthy in the best possible way
STZ is charming, funny and absolutely filthy in the best possible way. You may find yourself laughing, gagging and feeling strangely aroused all in the space of a few paragraphs. The absurdity of the book's central conceit succeeds because it is grounded in solid storytelling. The dynamic of the protagonist's friendship feels genuine and it is so refreshing for a female character in a horror story portrayed as a leader, not a victim. If your interests include violently humping hordes, wildly inappropriate mortuary behaviors, preternaturally horny grandmothers and not taking shit from the living or the dead, then STZ is the book for you.

I love your humor!
Andrew, you have scored a hit with STZ. Your writing style makes for a fun read full of lots of laughs, several of which I felt guilty for since they were instigated by some appalling moments! I hope this unlikely trio do well wherever they end up, and that Jer and Clay get to maintain their eyes and testicles in their God given places!
