While Mr Kelly has compiled a reasonable selection of dog entertainment (or in his words "enrichment") by picking and choosing from his Facebook page, the book is not well written and it doesn't really cover anything new. He desperately needs an editor. I hope that if he chooses to publish anything in the future, he gets an excellent editor and tones down his ego considerably. Another book with Canine Enrichment in the title was published a few weeks after Mr Kelly's self published book. The other book is going to remain on my book shelf as it covers theory, while Mr Kelly's has been given away already. One can teach a person to fish and they are good for life (the other book) or one can give a person a fish (Mr Kelly) and they are good for a day.

Having been “in dogs” for over 25 years I bought this book hoping I could learn something new....I was NOT disappointed! This book was very easy to understand and gave me a clearer understanding of how I can improve my relationship with my dogs even better! I highly recommend this book for not only beginners but for folks that have had dogs for a long time!w

Great purpose, of providing quality to my dogs life. Very basic, and extremely food oriented. I want my Dog participating because he enjoys what we're doing, not because he expects to get fed. I raise my dogs to trust that there will be good food at mealtime and the rest of the time it is a none issue. I believe that if I offered a treat for a good performance, they'd ignore it, asking 'what's next?'.When he gets to a real issue, he says "see a professional dog behaviorist". Give me the background and tell what to do. That is why I buy the book.

I follow the Canine Enrichment page on Facebook, and when I saw a book was available I had to buy one to try--then had to buy two more for friends! This is an easy read filled with fabulous ideas that you can create without the need to purchase additional materials--you can just use things around your house. These simple ideas really do make a difference--my dogs are hooked!

This book is easy to read and contains so many great ideas! It describes enrichment activities for every life stage, energy level, breed, and play preference. I am a member of an online discussion group founded by the author and still the book has been extremely valuable. I highly recommend for everyone who loves dogs!

My dog is very smart and gets bored easily. When he gets bored, he can become destructive by chewing and getting into trouble elsewhere, or by barking and pestering us incessantly. This book provides no-cost, low-cost and more-cost solutions to his boredom. You don't have to buy expensive toys, although those options are discussed. There are a number of DIY options, mostly low or no cost, which you can do right now at home. Don't toss out those empty toilet paper rolls. The book tells you how you can use them to hide treats for your dog in fun ways, and lot's more ideas for engaging with your dog. I like the book so much I even joined the Facebook group so I could read about and share ideas. By engaging more with my dog, our relationship has improved so much, and many of his annoying behavior caused by boredom and frustration have either stopped or lessened a ton.

Such a wonderful and important book. As a dog trainer, I help people, every single day, whose dogs are lacking enrichment in their lives and struggle with the behavior fallout that comes with that lack of enrichment.Enrichment is such an important piece of helping you give your dog the best life he/she can live, and this book is the BEST place to start. From now on all of my new clients will be getting a copy of this book!

Great book for our prison program. We like to give the handlers ideas on what they can do with the dogs when they are not training.

This book is a MUST for anyone with a dog. Kelly knowledgeably walks us through the many aspects of canine enrichment including do's and don'ts. In his book he defines canine enrichment and explains why dogs need it and how to avoid activities becoming frustrating as well as answering many common questions. He discusses different types of enrichment from DIY to shop bought products to 'sniffaris' (sniff walks) stating "it's not a chore to stand waiting for the dog to stiff, it's a privilege." Kelly's passion for canine enrichment is clear and he passes this enthusiasm on to you, the reader, in the hope that through offering your dog regular enrichment activities you become a better guardian and give him a better life. For Kelly, that’s enriching. Highly recommended for new and experienced dog guardians alike.

If my dogs could read they would definitely choose this book for me. It’s packed full of many wonderful ideas to help keep them entertained in ways they will enjoy. Something for every dog. This sentence really struck a chord with me and summed up the content and insight of the author beautifully ‘When we give animals a choice, something special happens, they learn to trust us’. That says it all.

Great little book! It may be slim but it’s packed with good information on enrichment and how it can help to improve the lives of our best friends; our dogs. Lots of practical suggestions for activities and presented in an easy to read and digest style - something for every owner and dog in this book.I will confess that I know Shay personally from studying the same course as him but actually, having been taught to critically evaluate sources of information as part of our 5 years of study, that makes my review all the more genuine!

Amazing insights into the needs of our best friends. Absolutely loved this book. Easy to read and makes absolute sense. I'm sure the knowledge gained will make my pal a whole lot happier and fulfilled.

Excellent book which explains in bite size chunks the importance of providing enrichment and how it can positively affect a dog's behaviour.While providing interesting activities for our dogs is obvious to many people, it is something which is sadly overlooked by many others. This book provides not only a large number of activities and ideas, it also provides answers to those questions which people may have regarding their dog's behaviour thereby breaking down any resistance to offering change.If you live with a dog and don't own any books relating to canine behaviour or training, make this book an absolute must!You're life will become not only easier but will become far more fun and enjoyable!
