My Grandkids love this book

It is rare that a book appeals to more than one age group, but this one does. Younger children will enjoy the rhyming tale of a girl who discovers the many kinds of fungi in her world. They will also love the charming illustrations of animated fungus. For older children, there is a wealth of scientific information on everything from spores to truffles. There is even an interview with a real mycologist that might spur my grandkids' interest in a career in science!

My kids and I LOVED this book! It was a great addition to our unit on fungi and growing mushrooms. Kids ages 3-11 enjoyed it as well as me. :)

My kids love the silly story and fantastic pictures. I love the awesome introduction to fungi--there is a ton of real science wrapped up in a kid-friendly picture book. My 9 yo saw me about to submit this review, and said to make sure I included that the book has lots and lots of real kinds of different fungi. :) He also brought up the book a few days after we read it when we pulled out yeast to make bread.For the teachers among us, you will find the following fungi in the story: mushrooms (with basic anatomy), lichens, spores, mold, mildew, truffles, yeast, and more! There's even an interview with a mycologist at the end!This one gets a huge thumbs up from me and all five kids!Note: We received a copy from the publisher for review purposes.

This book is great in so many ways. It appeals to all age groups as it has a wonderful, bouncy rhyme for the younger set and LOTS of interesting scientific information for older readers. I love the way the author incorporated real science in such a natural way, helping children see the fungus around them every day. The end includes an interview with a real Mycologist that opens the door for children to understand careers in science. A true gem of a book!

I love books that are fun to read but also teach kids new things and this one does that perfectly. We loved reading this book and combined it with a science experiment learning about mold! This book has awesome illustrations and teach kids not to fear mold & fungus.

We love this book! It's fun and informative and full of colorful pictures. It's perfect for a range of ages... We all learned a few things with this book! I received an advanced copy of this book for review and couldn't be happier to share how much we enjoyed it!

This layered narrative offers informative, rhyming stanzas which are mildly horror-filmesque. Fact boxes on each spread dig deeper. The mushrooms with eyeballs in the art are hysterical. A perfect science tie-in for elementary classrooms.
