The Poetry of Emily Dickinson (Word Cloud Classics)

I have always enjoyed Emily Dickinson’s poetry. This book is a stunning contribution to her, by way of illustrations and poetry. It comes in a wonderful box that is as beautiful as the book! I am grateful to have this on my end table.

A beautiful volume makes a very special gift.

To quote the publisher, “The first four books of Dickinson’s poetry, containing the majority of her most famous poems, are included in this volume. We have retained translations, punctuations, and titles as chosen by the original editors of those early editions.” These are the original published versions of the poetry that made made her an icon. (There is another version of her complete work, edited by Thomas H. Johnson in the mid-twentieth century, that leaves her work much in its original state.)This is a very nice, attractive book, both inside and out, that would make a great gift or as an addition to a personal collection.

The actual book itself I would rate FIVE STARS. This collection of poetry by Emily Dickinson is beautifully formatted, with a gorgeous flexibound cover. I absolutely love the intricate word maze design. I love that Word Cloud Classics has expanded into poetry, among other things.However, I could not give this review five stars simply because Amazon, yet again, has failed to properly inspect their books before they ship them out. Four or five years ago, I could confidently order any book from Amazon, knowing it would arrive in a pristine, new condition - as advertised. Lately, their quality control has fallen quite markedly. This is the sixth or seventh book I have ordered (out of about ten or so) that has arrived disheveled, dirty, and/or beat up. There were smudges of dirt all over the cover, and luckily I was able to wipe them off with no residual stains. Otherwise I would have sent this sucker right back.Buy this book... but do it somewhere else.

Such a treasure, this "soft covered hard cover book" with the feel of "almost leather". The indentations (look like a dark maze) are lines of poetry, inset in the soft surface, which is sturdy, yet flexible.I love the cover: checked it out of the library first then had to have one. So glad I bought it.And that doesn't even include how great her poetry is!One of her poems sounds like she had an NDE, "Called Back", page 107. I've never heard anything about that written of Dickinson. Lovely poem, lovely book. Great gift book too, especially for women.

Page 44 has a wonderful thought about hope. This collection is a calming collection for these difficult times.

How can you go wrong with Dickinson? Nicely boxed and reasonably priced.

Arrived quickly and was absolutely gorgeous. I purchased for myself but would make a wonderful gift! I highly recommend it, especially if you collect books.

Ich dachte hierbei handelt es sich um die kompletten Werke von Emily Dickinson in schön äesthetischem Format.Das Buch umfasst ca. 140 Seiten, dünner als erwartet, und bei Weitem nicht alle Gedichte.Die Fotos sind teilweise schön, zum Großteil handelt es sich aber sehr plumpe Stock-Fotos ohne jegliche Kohärenz untereinander in Stil.Gedruckt wird das Buch in China.Die Seiten sind spiegelglatt, für meinen Geschmack sehr unangenehm.Es lässt sich nicht gut drin blättern und schon gar nicht mit einer Hand halten, da das Buch von alleine den Drang hat "zu zufallen".Fazit: Das Buch wird zurückgeschickt.
