Flexi Comfort 3 Large Retractable Tape Dog Leash - Red w/Black

I've owned several of these and keep coming back as they are the best out there. That said, I would like to see them develop a leash that will stand up to the occasional biting/chewing I get when I walk my three dogs. The nylon tape tears over time more easily than I wish and I would like to see a metal cable leash with a rubberized coating that would really last. It would cost more but I would gladly pay for it.If you have big dogs and walk them regularly, I'm not sure you'll get more than 2 years out of these. They are great leashes and with no chewing will last a lot longer.

Updated Review (Nov 2016) - The leash still works perfectly, the rubberized handle hasn't worn, the tape hasn't frayed, the internal mechanisms work perfectly...this could be the most reliable product I've ever purchased. It's endured snow, beaches, rain, direct sunlight, the incredible force of my dog tugging, it's been dropped/dragged as well as on a few 1000 walks. As a big dog owner I know how tough it can be to find products that hold up. This is a good solution.Original Review (April 2013) - The problem with retractable leashes is they stop functioning properly after a few months...because of general wear from a puppy pulling, the trigger mechanism sticks or doesn't work after dropping, the leash gets wet and the inside is affected by the humidity and more...I've had this retractable leash for over 6 months and it still works perfectly. This is easily the best I've ever used and will order again. My dog is large 105lb very bouncy Great Pyrenees and previous retractable leashes didn't last any longer than 2 months. Some have been as short as one week (even though they're spec'd for 130+ dogs).The device itself is very comfortable, light, ergonomic, doesn't scratch easily and the rubber grip has yet to wear. The leash is more rugged than what the weight/aesthetics would let you think...mine has been dropped, yanked multiple times and still works without a hitch.Highly recommend.

I had the Flexi 3 leash for about 2 months for my Siberian Husky, which weighs in at a might 55lbs. Well, the leash snapped! Not the buckle, but the fabric part of the leash snapped in two. And as Husky owners know, they love to roam. Had to chase my guy for about a mile, near traffic, before finally he stopped.This leash is crap. I loved the length that allowed the dogs to somewhat roam, but this 110lb guaranteed leash failed me and almost cost me by boy.be careful, I might have just got a faulty one, but I almost lost my boy....

I bought one of these at Petsmart for $40 two years ago. My dog weighs roughly around 40lbs and she used this leash intermittently. Within two years it just finally snapped, there was no chewing and I don't know what customer service means by rough services (see below).It had a good comfortable grip and retracted fairly smoothly but for a dog that weighs under the 110lb limit it should of lasted way longer. Quality of the leash is very suspect. In addition, my dog and I where on a busy street and when the leashed snapped, it retracted and whipped me in the hand prior to going into the housing unit and without the leash attached to my dog, she ran off across the busy street. Luckily, there were no cars coming!I contacted customer support (they did respond quickly, I'll give'em that) and was told this leash does not have the lifetime warranty. Within they're response they offered me a replacement(Flexi Freedom edition)for a rock bottom price of $23.99, but only if I sent the old one back to them (see customer service response below). What got me is, that Amazon offers it for the almost the same price, $24.86 for the Flexi Freedom and also will be delivered in 2-3 days. Had the Flexi leash before and had used it for 9 years but this one I purchased and had for a month and it broke and would not retract back, contacted the manufacturer and send it back to get replacement, but it has been 4 weeks already and I am still waiting for the replacement! Little sad that it takes soooo long!

its a handy item to have ( til they break, LOL ). Give ur dog much much more freedom than a normal leash. my dog loves it and i love it so my dog can be more than 6ft away from me. Gives my dog the freedom to run and enjoy the outside.

We bought it here on amazon and had a luxury to change it free of cost at petco shop...they are very generous..thank you so much.
