Some good stories
Hit or miss but some good stories
A**M
I look forward to every issue.
Some say that this magazine is the little sister to Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, but I find this a false comparison. The two publications don't publish the same kind of story. EQ publishes a few excellent stories in each issue, and the rest are fill. Some of the good stories could fit in an issue of The New Yorker or The Atlantic: they seem so generic. Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, on the other hand, publishes fewer stories, but all of them seem to be of a higher average quality than I find in EQ. There are some good noirs, occasionally humor, and all this printed in a far more easily seen typeface. There are two or three fewer lines per page than in EQ, and the font is slightly different. It's just easier to read on the cheap paper these magazines use.My only complaint is that I have no option of having the magazine sent to me in a kraft envelope. Every issue seems to have a damaged cover.

Great Way To Find New Authors
I have along enjoyed this publication and itโs sister version, EQMM. Having them delivered digitally means that I can collect back issues without taking up shelf space, and also dig back in to read a review of new books, or blogs, so that I can find even more great mystery writers! Great value for the $$.

NOT ALWAYS CLASSICS BUT STILL ENJOYABLE
SOME STORIES DIDN'T WORK FOR ME; SOME SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED BY SUCH AN ACCAIMED MAGAZINE. BUT, MOSTLY, I ENJOYED THE STORIES, AND THE "MYSTERIOUS PHOTOGRAPH CONTEST" THAT OFFERS NON-PRO WRITERS A CHANCE TO SEE STORIES PRINTED MAKES THE MAGAZINE BETTER THAN IT OCCASIONALLY READS.PLEASE, AHMM, CHOOSE BETTER "STORIES THAT WON" IN THE "MYSTERIOUS PHOTOGRAPH CONTEST" IN FUTURE ISSUES.

Great Read
Quality of mystery stories include a broad spectrum so everyone should find story(s) they like. I am a new subscriber of this magazine, but a 25 year plus subscriber of Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. If you enjoy mystery short stories you need to subscribe to both. Also, unless you need to pass the magazines around, or collect them, the digital form is the only way to go.

Great for Workouts
These books fit nicely on the cardio machines I use at the gym. As for me, I'd leave an iPad or Kindle on the machine and be halfway home before I miss it. If I do that with one of these books, so what? There'll be another in the mailbox in a couple of weeks.I go there, get up on the elliptical trainer or treadmill, bury my nose in a well written mystery and 40 minutes later I'm done. I lost 100 pounds in 12 months by doing this. Make AHMM and EQMM part of your healthy lifestyle change today.PS, I think the writing is great. It's clean, clever, witty and most of the authors have a really enjoyable writing style and voice. This review is for AHMM but I'm going to paste it into a review for EQMM as well.

Satisfying
This quality magazine helps satisfy my addiction to murder mysteries. Good writing ... better writing, in fact, than what you find in some mystery novels published today. Hitchcock editors choose authors who work hard to produce a good story. I hope this magazine pays well!

Comfort from crime and a twist in the tale
I have been watching re-runs of Alfred Hitchcock presents on a local TV station 10.30pm and love the comfort viewing that I recall watching many years ago. The magazine is full of short stories reminiscent of the short black and white tales I loved to watch, especially the classic stories. It's a great companion on my commute to work and back, a bit of escapism to bookend the working day.

these are great mags.
these are great mags......but be ready to accept ups and downs in story quality. Overall good stuff and if you hit a slow/uninteresting story just move on to the next.
