Easy to keep clean
I accidentally grew mold on my clay weights. Yuck. These glass weights fit my fermenter perfectly and can be washed and dried completely. No mold. And my sauerkraut doesn’t taste like kimchi.

Works great - 5.5” fits the common one-gallon pickle jar.
I’m a fan so far. New to fermenting, so I’ve been doing batches of sauerkraut in glass pickle jars. Prior to getting this, I’d use the water-in-bag approach, but this way better. Easy to clean with soap and water, then I sanitize it with running alcohol and let air dry. You can boil it too.The 5.5 inch size fits about perfect in a common one-gallon pickle jar. Once I get the weights seated on the sauerkraut, I gentry press them down until it submerges, and it stays in place with about an inch of brine at the surface.I’ve never used the stoneware weights that are out there, so I don’t have anything to compare to regarding weight, performance, or cleaning. But I was looking for something that would fit a gallon pickle jar and was durable, non-porous, and easy to clean. These are quality, thick glass and I’ll buy more if I need them.

perfect for fermenting kraut
Glass weights are smooth and blemish free. All edges and corners are rounded. Good heavy weight, plenty sufficient to keep kraut submerged. Photos show kraut 1 day and 5 days after starting. (I mismeasured my crock, so the weights are a little too big -- they still work just fine, though. I'm using a 2-gal butter churn with curved sides -- because it's all I had that was big enough for the 5-lb cabbage from my garden.) There are a couple of large leaves between the shredded cabbage and the weights to prevent cabbage bits getting to the surface. The second photo is darker because I didn't have room lights on. What appear to be striations in the second photo are actually reflections of the grooves in the crock -- the glass has no striations, or any other imperfections. I also love that the weights are manufactured in Poland, known for high quality glass for decades, and where I trust that the glass labeled "lead free" is actually lead free.

Great quality glass for your fermentation projects
The glass came very well packaged and fits perfectly inside my one-gallon wide mouth jars. A bit of a pricier option than some other crock weights, but this is a good quality product. A great set of weights for your fermentation projects

They work!
I bought these to place in my crock, as mine didn't come with any. And I wanted something that wouldn't absorb the juices from the sauerkraut. This product checked all my boxes! Easy to clean, fits in my crock, and looks nice. Thanks!

Fits 1 Gallon Jars
I bought the 5.5" diameter and it fits standard 1 gallon jars. I like that it's made of nonreactive glass because it'll be in an acidic environment. They're very weighty which is good. The one that I received looks used but overall pretty new. Price is expensive so I'll just be fermenting a jar at a time.

Seriously overpriced, but work great!
Great product, well made, and work great in my gallon-sized fermenting jar. These will last longer than my lifetime. No complaints with the product. The price is steep but buy once, cry once.

very nice
It is pricey but very nice. It fits the 2 gallon food grade buckets I bought. Very easy to clean.
