Great family movie!

Shameless escapism to a simpler time in Life when the world was a brighter place.

Great movies but it would be better if they were on separate dvds or divided into separate episodes. You have to fast forward all through Mr. Toad to get to Ichabod Crane.

"The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" is a wonderful collection of two classic tales about two of literature's most unlikeable likeable characters. Clocking in at just over an hour, this film spends the first thirty or so minutes telling us the story of one J. Thaddeus Toad and his "mania" with motorcars that lands him in the big house. His friends Badger, Rat, and Mole join together to try and prove his innocence. In the second half of this film, we see Ichabod Crane trying to make a move on the lovely Katrina Van Tassel. Eventually he has a run-in with a local legend, the Headless Horeseman.The two "heroes" of these tales aren't your typical lead characters. Mr. Toad lives a wild, carefree life in which he spends himself into bankruptcy over "manias" that he pursues. Ichabod Crane is after Katrina not just for her good looks, but for her dad's fat wallet. Somehow these two antiheroes make you pull for them in both of these tales.The DVD transfer is good considering the source material. The audio is excellent, and Basil Rathbone and Bing Crosby sound charming as they tell their respective tales. There is some grain on the film throughout most of the movie, but this is passable. The music is fun and I'm sure that this flick will hold the attention of any youngster and most adults.Included on the disc are the short "Lonesome Ghosts" featuring Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck. There's also a few previews. For those who take the time to play "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" trivia game there's an extra cartoon short, "Susie The Little Blue Coupe."Overall, this is one gem of a film that no true Disney fan should be without. With Halloween having just passed, this would have been an excellent show to let children watch on that holiday. It's great fun to watch any time of the year.Highly recommended.

I'm of the generation who watched a show Disney aired every Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. I think it was called The Wonderful World of Disney and it was a combination of things – like cartoons, wildlife segments, films, etc. Watching Disney on Sunday nights was a thing we did and then went to bed.I remember both of the films in this set being among the Sunday night selections with Jiminy Cricket as the emcee. My favorite is, of course, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, though not exactly true to the original tale by Washington Irving. But it works for kids and adults alike. My dad used to watch all of our shows with us, which is a nice memory from childhood. I also remember the baseball film about the Mighty Casey, which also aired in the time slot.The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is pretty cute and can really be viewed at any time. But the Legend of Sleepy Hollow is definitely a Halloween favorite that I still love to watch as an adult. Bing Crosby is the main voice/narration for this animated film and his voice is a real throwback to a specific time in my childhood so it's also nostalgic.The animation and sound of the Sleepy Hallow film is just as crisp and wonderful and magical now as it was when I was a kid. And there's some bonus features that are nice too, especially for modern kids seeing this for the first time.Recommend.

Always loved watching this movie with my daughter but that one was on a VHS tape and we needed to get it on a DVD.

You can't go wrong with old school Disney. This is a good Halloween film for children.

I gave this movie 5 stars as the BEST "Animated" adaptation of the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow". Its short, but sweet and is a CLASSIC. When I was a kid, I looked forward to watching this every Halloween. I loved the build up to the chase at the end. Unfortunately, since then there hasn't been a better film adaptation of Irving's masterpiece to compare it to. Perhaps somebody will create one where the plot isn't completely rewritten or twisted and doesn't have so much gorey violence in it. Tim Burton's 'Sleepy Hollow', while the sets were visually stunning and the movie is entertaining, the core story was completely rewritten. The whole side plot where Ichabod is a constable whose father was painted as a religious zealot that brutally killed his mother was completely unnecessary and a total distraction that lent nothing to the main plot. Only the names of Washington Irving's characters are the same. There was so much other significant American history at the time, it's a shame they didn't incorporate any of it. And now (fall 2013) Fox is going off on another 'Legend of Sleepy Hollow' tangent with the 'Sleepy Hollow' TV series where Ichabod was a secret agent for General George Washington, who is brought back to life in order to battle a now Uzi wielding Headless Horseman in modern times because he's one of the 4 horseman of the apocalypse. Seriously???

A few years ago i remembered having seen a scary cartoon about Sleepy Hollow when i was a child. It took me ages to track it down (mainly as i didnt know what it was called), & i've eventually got it from Amazon.The title is deceiving, as it infers that Ichabod and Mr Toad are in one adventure - but it's two separate stories.Of course, its not as scary to me now - but its still very good and you can scare the kids with it!I now just need someone to help me find the other one i want from olden days - The Blue Danube - it's lovely little birds & woodland animals, squeezing the blueberry juice into the river to make it blue - all to the music of 'The Blue Danube'.
