I recently purchased the AI Gear Contour Gauge Duplicator to assist with laying flooring in my bathroom, particularly around the base of the toilet. Unfortunately, my experience with this product has been mixed. Initial Success: When I first used the contour gauge, it worked perfectly. I was able to trace the shape around the toilet base accurately, which made cutting the flooring a breeze. The initial precision and ease of use were impressive, and I had high hopes for its continued performance. Issues with Durability and Functionality: However, after the first successful use, things went downhill. The 'pins' of the gauge would not stay in place, making it nearly impossible to trace shapes accurately. This was extremely frustrating, as the tool's primary function is to hold the contour steady while you trace it. Without this, the gauge became practically useless for my needs. Design Flaws: Another issue I encountered was with the allen key provided to lock the shape in place. The allen key is very small and easy to misplace, which adds to the inconvenience. A better design would have incorporated a more substantial locking mechanism or a way to securely attach the allen key to the tool to prevent loss. Overall Experience: While the Gauge Duplicator started off promising, its lack of durability and practical design flaws made it difficult to use effectively beyond the initial attempt. I’m left wondering if I am doing something wrong or if this product simply doesn’t hold up well with repeated use. If you’re considering this tool for precision measuring, be aware of these potential issues. It may work fine for light, occasional use, but for more demanding tasks, you might need a more robust and reliable option.

This is a handy little tool for DIY projects and it helped a lot when cutting around tricky shapes like skirting boards and door frames. It does take a bit of getting used to and it is not the easiest tool to use for larger or uneven objects like the base of a toilet. The pins can shift if you are not careful and the locking mechanism could be a bit tighter. That said, for detailed or awkward corners it can save time and guesswork. It does feel a little gimmicky but still worth having around for certain jobs.

Die Skala misst den Messwert in Zentimeter (cm) und Zoll. Meine Meinung: ABS-Plastik steht für Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol-Copolymer und ist sehr stabil. Somit ist es auch bei herausfordernden Arbeiten wie bei Arbeiten am Boden (Laminat) gut als Konturenlehre zu verwenden. Nutzung: Ich finde, diese Schablone ist sehr gut und einfach zu handhaben. Ich bin froh, mich überwunden zu haben das Geld auszugeben und nicht weiter mit selbstgebastelten „Hilfslehren“ vorlieb zu nehmen, da diese im Regelfall immer ungenauer sind. Zumindest war dies bei mir der Fall. Bisher hatte ich noch kein Problem damit, dass die Maße nicht richtig gepasst haben. Ich bin schon sehr auf die nächsten Herausforderungen, die auf mich zukommen gespannt. Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis: Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis finde ich komplett in Ordnung. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fazit: Es ist funktionell und sehr gut verarbeitet. Aus diesem Grund vergebe ich auch 5 Sterne. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wie folgt ist mein Bewertungsmaßstab: 5x - Klare Empfehlung von meiner Seite aus. 4x - Hat ein kleines Manko, aber dennoch gut 3x - kann man benutzen 2x - Keine Empfehlung von mir, nicht gut handhabbar. 1x - Ist unbrauchbar / fehlerhaft.
