Retro townhouse aquarium with design fails
This little tank is stylish and colorful and is sold as a decorative-only aquarium suitable for one or two fish, but seems to have been initially designed with some interesting features. The fireplace or 'lamp shade' structure is a tube that was obviously intended for a filter system. Directly below the tube is a tunnel that runs under the base and exits out to the plant area, where there is a set of plastic tabs intended to route aquarium tubing. Also in the base are various holes of different sizes and locations. Unfortunately, all of these features remain a mystery. The included instruction sheet doesn't mention them. It's possible that if you know how aquarium filters work, you could probably get something going here.Another design flaw is the base unit. Although there are four tabs along the bottom of the base piece, the clear tank does not have the depressions needed for anything to click into, and so once you put some water in, your retro townhouse starts floating to the surface. I found a solution by gluing the base down before adding water.

The décor popped up and my poor betta got stuck between it and the bottom of the tank. I was in a panic because I thought he had disappeared, then found him stuck. I also did not receive a fake fish with my tank. I emailed the manufacturer from their "contact us" link on their website and inquired about the purpose of the two tubes that stick up in the tank, one disguised as a lamp and the other in the middle of the table. They did not have the decency to respond to my question. It looks like they could serve as some kind of crude filter system, if you look underneath the décor insert, but there was not hose provided. Cute tank but quite disappointing in some respects.

Cute design
Mine didn't come with the fishes the other reviews mention. I contacted the maker and they sent me one (yes a single one). I'm not sure what the hollow part of the big lamp is for. Unfourtantley, the betta that was in here got fish rot but I don't think it was due to the tank. When first rinsing it, I tried to remove the decor part by pulling it from the lamp on the table and it broke off. The table also broke off when I was trying to remove it and when pulling it from the bigger lamp, it too came off (but can be reattached) so I'm not sure how you're suppose to take it out. The actual bowl was sturdy however this did not come with a lid which was a major con.

Better than expected!
After reading iffy and negative reviews, I took a chance and ordered the Retro Townhouse Aquarium. It's fairly solid, use a delicate hand when wiping bowl and cleaning decor for fresh water change. I use a soft toothbrush to remove any build-up on decor. I also used it to scrub away any plastic residue after soaking it in water for 3 days when it arrived before introducing my Betta to his new home. He's very happy with all the bright decor and the size.

larger than i thought
i bought this for my little sister after she won a goldfish at a school function. i didn't want her to have a plain fish bowl because well what 12 year old girl should have plain anything? needless to say it was a hit! its much bigger than i thought but come to think of it i didn't look at the dimensions. i saw reviews saying fish died in it but so far she has two little guys thriving!

It is absolutely very retro looking and it would look good in where ever you decide to
This fish tank in one of a kind. It is absolutely very retro looking and it would look good in where ever you decide to. However, I was very disappointed how there was no manual instruction that came with except for on how to take care of fish. I am aware that it doesn't take a genius to figure it, butbtheybcoukd

Love it
I bought the robotic jelly fish and sea horse to put in this tank for my 3 year old daughters valentines day gift. She absolutely loved it! The tank is great. What's awesome is inside the box there was a picture with even more styles of tanks. There is a Cat in the Hat tank I want to get my daughter so badly. I'm thinking about taking this retro tank for myself, buying the cat n the hat tank for my girl along with another couple robot fish

Not as advertised...
It's cute but..."The tank also comes with a fun fantasy fish that swims around on his own!" well that didn't happen. Our cute fantasy fish was non- existent. Also, no instructions for use/care etc for set up like it said. This may not be the taj mahal of tanks but it would be nice if it came as advertised. I won't buy from them again...
