A Desirable Residence Kindle Edition

I bought this book because I had read and enjoyed the shopaholic series and other novels by Sophie Kinsella so I thought I would try this one. I didn't think the story hung together as well as other books I have read by her and the characters were rather unconvincing in places. The actor's wife was particularly poor and I won't spoil the story for those who are going to read the book but the last encounter with her in the book seems quite overblown and then just peters out and is left unresolved. The mother in the book is also particularly foolish and annoying although maybe that is the point! Over the piece despite the weaknesses this was a decent, light hearted read. There were moments of humour but I wouldn't say it was laugh out loud funny which some of the early shopaholic books definitely are!

I couldn't warm to Liz at all. She had no redeeming features or finer feelings. The ending was fitting.

I bought this as a present for my mum. Was very well recieved. Came on time and well packaged. My only criticism is if you are looking for a bit of laugh then I wouldn't go for the books that are written by Sophie Kinsella under the name Madeline Wickham because they are a different type of story from her other books. Apart from that money well spent!

Great value for money.

Not a bad read but not as good as some of the other books written as Madeline Wickham & not as good as Sophie Kinsella books.

Boring story with boring characters. The ending for this book was rushed and truly awful. I didn't even realise it was the end. None of the ends got tied up at all. I feel like the book had a 1/3 left off. The story was nowhere near good enough to finish like that.

Non existent plot, it's like having a 'big brother' window on the characters' lives which are even more boring than my own, not what I buy books or audio books for.

The title says it all. A confusing cluster of characters drifting around an unresolved plot, nothing goes anywhere. We finish with one character out of about fifteen feeling vaguely pleased. Err - that's it. That's REALLY it!!!

If you've got nothing better do to: buy this book and read it.If you want to have all Wickham/Kinsella novels (like me ;)): buy this book and read it.If you're expecting to read something similar and as much refreshing as the usual Kinsella-novels: keep your hands off and save your money!I had to force myself to get through the book. Actually took me over a month because I just didn't want to go on reading :(Taking that this is only Wickham's 2nd novel, it receives 2 stars...

Bought it because its by Sophie Kinsella and though it would be comedic. Its not. I can't get past the first couple of chapters. Not what I was expecting from her.

Storia banale e lontanissima dai fasti di shophaolic.Manca ritmo e le gag non strappano il sorriso.Forse la vena umoristica si sta esaurendo.

Delivery spot on! I didn't find the storyline and characters interesting. I, time and time again kept the book aside because I found it too boring to complete.

Livro divertidíssimo! Fiquei ligado o tempo todo na estória. Recomendo os livros de Shophie para todos. É risada garantida! Nota 10!

A Desirable Residence is a great fast read! Page turner. Couldn't put it down. Two stories going on at the same time. Interesting how the teenager gets involved with the residents of her old house.

Nothing spectacularly entertaining but kept me entertained for my commute to work. Not her best work but still worth the read.

Freizeitlektüre, nicht besonders anspruchsvoll, zum reinen 'Runterlesen, halt entspannend ohne große Aufmerksamkeit durch zu führen. Mehr ist hier nicht zu sagen.

Die Abgrenzung zur Sophie Kinsella ist gelungen, denn es liest sich ganz anders und ist leider total langweilig. Es fehlt der Pepp.

le livre est tres beau mais il est plus difficile à comprendre que les autres KInsella. Et le coté sentimentale et l'humour se ressent beaucoup moins que dans le autres. Donc beau livre, sympa mais pas dans la meme lignée que d'autres de Kinsella.

Roman à l'eau de rose, à lire rapidement sans se prendre la tête. je préfère les autres écrits sous le nom de sophie kinsella.

Good book

Déçue de ce roman d'une auteure que j'aime d'habitude énormément. L'histoire n'est ni prenante, ni drôle, ni même intéressante. La fin notamment...
