I did a lot of research on different straws that I could take with me to restaurants to avoid getting plastic straws, which are horrible for the environment. I decided that I wanted glass straws made in the USA. Then I found the Hummingbird glass straws - both straight and bent - made in the USA with many excellent reviews, and they were just what I wanted. I decided to get the bent straws, which I really like, as the bend is at a perfect angle. I had some questions and emailed the company, and their customer service was top notch, as they quickly responded to all my emails and answered all my many questions. The glass ends are smooth and rounded, unlike some other straws I saw with sharp edges, and each straw is handmade, which is unique in this day and age where so many items are mass produced. They say the glass straws are shatterproof, and they told me that they offer a lifetime guarantee. They also include a small brush for those times then sometime might get stuck, which I think is rare. There are some less expensive glass straws available, but I believe the Hummingbird price is reasonable for shatterproof handmade glass straws made in the USA with outstanding customer service and a lifetime guarantee. First I bought the 9" x 9.5 mm bent glass straws, and I find that they are good for smoothies, etc. I wanted something a little smaller for iced tea, so then I bought these 9" x 7 mm bent glass straws, and they are perfect for iced tea, soda, etc. I haven't tried them in smoothies. I also find the 9" length to be just right for regular height glasses, and even for the Starbucks frapuccino I bought. Overall, I am very pleased with these straws and highly recommend them. I wouldn't have ordered the second set otherwise.

I love my straws. I wanted a straw that would fit nicely for either the trenta sized lids or the venti sized lids at Starbucks, and these do the trick. I can enjoy a hot beverage or a cold beverage without a hitch. The ability to see through the glass ensures that when I clean the straw it is completely clean. I bought 2 straws just to try, and I will be buying more since I am not the only family member who likes to use them.If you are looking for something to use with a shake or smoothie, then I would highly recommend the wider straw which works great for that purpose.Update: I am finding that these straws can take a licking. My kids love to use the straws, too. With that said, they have been clanked on the counter, dropped on the Limestone tile floor, and they are still like new. No, they are not getting dropped every single time, but enough to impress. The straws being able to be used daily and last a reasonable time was one of my concerns in purchasing them. I am sure that like any glass that is banged or clinked that there is a stress that will build up in the glass itself, but the fact that they have not chipped or cracked yet is impressive. I will definitely buy more and give as gifts.

Not sure what other people are doing to break their straws but I use mine daily & I even got straws that are the same width but longer. I haven't broke any of them & I use them to stir also.

This is the first time I actually use a glass straw. It felt a bit strange at first (possibly because the usual 'soft feel' of plastic or paper straws wasn't there. However, the benefits of not having possible toxic chemicals usually found in plastic straws outweighs the small discomfort. The glass straws can be used to stir the drink as well. The tube inside diameter is a bit smaller than the normal plastic straw. So the volume flow rate isn't the same. The packaging is not so good, however. The straws came in a flimsy box that was wide open (not sealed). It was shipped in cushioned Amazon yellow envelope, which apparently wasn't proper for glassware. As a result, all of the straw fell out of their flimsy paper box and one of them was found broken when I opened the Amazon envelope. So, I ended up having three functional glass straws out of four!

The straws arrived safe and sound.These straws are small enough to go through the Starbucks sipping/drinking opening with a bit of force. It also fits the Yeti tumbler’s Magslide Lid’s opening.I like the rounded edge of straw so they are more comfortable to use without stabbing the inside of my mouth. They are now my go-to reusable straws.It’s easy to clean. Disclaimer: I use a different small bendable brush that I got with another set of metal straws.

I never drank with a glass straw before and I was surprised at the visceral reaction. It's a pleasant sensation, smooth to the mouth and tongue. And, predictably, whatever you're drinking doesn't pick up any taste at all the way a plastic straw or stainless steel straw might. You do have to be careful with them - yep, glass construction means they are fragile to angled pressure, drops, etc. I had one break when it slipped through the silverware rack in the dishwasher and I pulled it out and didn't realize it was hung up on the door. SNAP. So treat them like drinking glasses, handle with care, and you'll be fine. Otherwise, they are quite pleasant to use.

Overall happy with product. Just wish the opening was a little bigger. This is my second order of glass straws from this company. Loved the first. Recollection is that the first batch were a little bigger with a bigger opening.

Plastic straws are out in businesses, so decided to try glass instead. Just arrived, wonderful. Both sizes fit my mugs! Will be ordering more sizes in different colors too, thanks :-). Note to seller - these were sent in a soft mailer package. All 4 tall straws were loose inside, as the inside package was open. Looked like someone stepped on package in route. The small straw package was open too, but those straws were wrapped in paper. None were broken! Surprised that this wasn't sent in a cardboard box :-). Glad they survived! Thanks!
