Fondo di Toscana italian couscous, 500 grams. The producers we have chosen for Fondo di Toscana pride themselves on direct milling of the unhusked rice, grown on their own farms in Italy. Direct milling and ancient growing techniques are the secret to producing high quality, Italian, short grain rice.

Great taste and texture
This is now the go-to couscous. We like the larger grained ones, and had been getting Israeli couscous, but found this on Amazon while hunting for Fondo's delicious red rice. The fact that this couscous is toasted gives it a lovely texture when cooked. Will likely never go back.

Different than pasta.
I used this at a recent dinner party and my friends were raving about it. No relation to traditional couscous, this is toasted pasta. I cooked it with chickenbroth and nuts and really loved it! Try it with turkey for Thanksgiving.

25% - 30% of the couscous is burnt, the rest chewy
Italian pasta yes, but Italians got it wrong with couscous. I am from Eastern Europe so couscous was a staple when I was growing up. This one is just not what I expected. Not sure why some of it is char burnt, is it for taste or for color, but I had pick out all the burnt product before I prepare it, a waste of time and money. When cooked this did not taste like very good, it was chewy, the texture was off. $8 dollars for this product is a rip off.

rustic and tasty
This couscous has a great flavor, while most are merely bland. It is easy to make, stores well when there is some left over, and microwaves well without becoming mushy.
