Max's Castle (Max's Words, 3)

Purchased as a gift and have not given it yet. Seems like a good book for Kdg. or first grader. It can make them aware of rhyming and encourage them to come up with their own. Lots of fun learning opportunities from this book for a creative parent!

Darling book! It's like a very creative scrabble game in the way the author and illustrator change the letters. My child loves when I read it and he points out the changes and what impact they have. Great way to teach how minor change to what you write can impact the story. We read this story a lot.

Generally when I read to my 4 year old son (who is obsessed with knights and swords, hence the reason for us choosing this book) my 7 year old daughter takes no interest whatsoever. With this book she's leaning over our shoulders animatedly pointing out the words as they change from Walls to Halls, Adder to Ladder etc with each building block. My son, who is just learning to read, is equally fascinated by it. I'm buying if for every Max and Ben I know - and all of their friends. I have bought hundreds of books for my children and this is the first time I have been moved to write a review. Suffice to say, I love this book!

Max's Castle is one wonderful book! I can't wait to read it with my grandchildren. Max's world is filled with simple blocks that bring to life all the wonder of Max's imagination - a thrill for his brothers. One letter change and the whole story changes! The author and illustrator have created a terrific story. I look forward to reading their other books. This one is SO much fun!

my 4 years old love this one a lot. it is great written book with a twist and play on words .teaches kids what a big difference can make one little letter in a words. and is very entertaining .
