Kelheim Bavarian Hefeweizen Home Brewing Kit

I like BSG kits. If you are buying this though, don't expect it to be blonde like a typical heffe. The malt extracts are a bit caramelized compared to mash brewing so don't get high expectations for looks. Other than that it BSG kits are really easy and they taste great.

With slight modifications to the recipe you can achieve the Blonde color expected of Bavarian Heffeweizen. Everything that came in the kit was high quality as far as i can tell. After fermenting for a week i kegged it with great results. I was expecting more of the Banana flavor typical of heffeweizen but it did not come out strongly at all, probably due to yeast selection and preference of the producer.*** To achieve a blonde color add 1/2 of one of the containers of extract at the beginning of your boil followed with hops. After 45 minutes add the other 1/2 and other container (they are both the same). less carmelization occurs and you get that lighter color expected of a heffe. ***As far as kegging goes, i run it at 20 psi with 5 feet of a special silver embedded beer line (has a higher flow resistance but no vinyl off flavors)

Arrived leaking so I didn't get a chance to brew this Hefeweizen.

This is a super simple beer kit. Most of the ingredients are from Europe. Most importantly, it tastes great and my friends love it. Super impressed with Strange-Brew getting me my kit in just 4 days; coast to coast! Typically I brew all grain, this was supposed to be made for some quick gifts. I'm hooked!

Great kit produced a great tasting heffe for my 5 gallon catalyst Brewer. Good instructions as well. 2nd brew kit I've used.

Very easy kit. I kegged this batch and my neighbor said it was one of the best beers he ever had.
