the best pink dye ever
this is my favorite pink hands down. it's also one of the pricier ones i've encountered, but it's worth it.i wash my hair almost daily and can go about 5-6 weeks before it has faded enough that i can't stand it - it gets to be a bright salmon pink on my semi-bleached hair and a pale pink on my platinum hair. when it's fresh, it's gorgeous and goes really well with my naturally dark-brown (i do a dip-dye or balyage look because my hair is halfway down my back!)once my hair started to get very long, i began mixing it with other, less expensive pinks to extend it, and have seen good results. i use adore rose pink and a little bit of cheap conditioner, mix them up in the bowl with the virgin rose and paint it on. the adore dyes are very liquid and runny, while the special effects are thicker, so this makes a huge difference in coverage. when my hair was short (chin-length), i didn't bother because i didn't need so much.my attached photos are of ONLY the special effects virgin rose. it had been touched up that morning for a wedding. the first photo is at the salon where i was getting my hair styled, and you can see how the fluorescent lights really make the color glow purple. the second photo is of my updo in sunlight.

Blue Velvet is a beautiful dark color, good value.
After many different hair dyes, I have to say I love this one. It has some flaws, of course, like bleeding and staining, but I'm taking the time to write a review on this one because I'm three weeks in and it still looks great.Just a note about my use: I dye underneath, a few stripes, and then all the ends (about 5" up) for that sort of ombre-style hair. I've use Manic Panic, Splat (THE WORST) and any number of other brands i can no longer remember. I've gone every color of the rainbow for the last three years and I love this color and this dye.PROS:--Lots of dye in the squeeze bottle. Because I don't focus on doing roots, I still have half a bottle left for re-dying in a couple months. I've done this with Manic Panic in the past, too, and if you have short hair or do the ombre thing, this could last you two rounds as well.--Great color! I find it's so hard to get a good, rich, dark color from the greens/blues without it turning awful in two weeks. This dark blue velvet hasn't faded nearly as much as other blue colors I've tried, and it truly is a dark blue. Yes, I love fuschia and turquoise, but my favorites are those very dark colors that almost fade into a black/brown hair until the light hits it just right.--Stays vibrant for weeks *if you wash your hair properly for vibrant colors* Last time I had my hair done by my regular hairdresser, she dyed it with the professional dyes in orange/red/yellows and told me that it would fade quickly regardless of the brand. The trick, she said, is to wash your hair twice a week max in COLD water. If it gets oily, use a dry shampoo or baby powder (white dry shampoo, basically) and comb it through. For people who struggle with keeping their colorful hair vibrant, heed this advice. That said, even with cold water washes and baby powder in between, this dye has had way more staying power than other brands I've tried in the past. Other than washing my hair in cold water, I don't 'keep up' with my hair or use special products to keep it colorful. I use baby powder and regular shampoo/conditioner and this is still just fine.CONS:--In the same way that it will stay in your hair longer with proper maintenance, it also seems to have WAY more 'adherence' to surfaces when you spill a drop. I nearly stained at least every surface in my bathroom with this product. However, I've also found that a little rubbing alcohol will at least take it out of a vinyl floor and off of a laminate countertop. ;-)

LOVE
So impressed with this dye! My hair is naturally a dark brown, so I thought this wouldn't do much to my hair. But I was pleasantly surprised! It shows up great in my hair, no bleach needed! Yes, it turned out dark purple, but that's what I wanted! Love, love, love it! Definitely recommend it! Only con to it is it's very messy! Stains skin and other surfaces, but I expected that! Just be careful! And definitely wear gloves!

Absolutely love this color
Absolutely love this color!!! I have bought it multiple times <3 It starts out like the purple in my first photo and fades to the bright pink that is in the second photo. The length of time before the fade out depends on how long you leave the dye in your hair (I leave the dye in my hair overnight, I just put a plastic bag over my head and sleep with it on) and how often you wash your hair. The less you wash your hair the longer the color lasts. Also the dye stains everything, so cover your face and neck in Vaseline before dying your hair, wear gloves while dying your hair and while washing it out, wear clothes you don't mind staining, sleep with a towel on your pillow or just buy black pillow cases like I did and most of all take a ton of gorgeous photos of yourself :D

AWESOME hair color, not as awesome stains.
Alright everyone, if you haven't purchased a SFX hair dye before you should know two things: 1. They last an extremely long time and are very very pigmented, they're amazing unnatural hair dyes if you don't want to change your color often. And 2, YOU NEED TO BE CAREFUL, THEY STAIN EVERYTHING THEY TOUCH. Your skin, your bathroom, your hair, your clothes, everything. Wear all black when you apply the dye and try to rinse it out as close to the shower drain as possible and keep it in a contained area.I love special effects hair dyes so much, they come in little tubes (the dye is hard to get out of the tube, lots of shaking required) but I usually empty mine into a bowl and then kinda pick up chunks at a time with my gloves on to apply it to my hair. The dye is also extremely safe to leave in your hair, I generally leave it in for about 2 hours at a time before washing out and applying conditioner and the color will stay for months!
