Q: Why is this product not used for Back and shoulder pain?

I think it has to do with FDA regulations. In the U.K., Europe and Australia where this product has been on the market for decades, it’s frequently used for back pain. My mother used it for back pain in England in the mid-80s with no ill effects. She was advised to do so by our GP, and then again by an orthopaedic surgeon. In the US it would be considered off-label use, a practice that is not uncommon. P.S. The Canadians sell Voltaren Back and Muscle Pain with a slightly different formula (diclonefac diethylamine versus diclonefac sodium) that regulates absorption speed.

Hi, Voltaren is not approved for the relief of muscle pain nor back pain.

This is helpful and effective for shoulders, tendinitis, even hip pain. I have had it for years by Rx and used it on nearly every joint. It’s less effective on one’s back.
