The author goes to great lengths to instruct the reader
This is an instructional book about the subject matter of business analysis. It covers in detail the role of the business analyst along with many of its key job functions. The author goes to great lengths to instruct the reader, how to enter into the profession with both interview questions along with quick cheat sheets. I sent an email today requesting the cheat sheets and received a reply within the hour with the information requested. Cheers!

Excellent Read
I'll be reading this job over and over again as it touches on everything a BA should know. It's a condensed version on the BABOK and it's easier to have on my Kindle

Everything you need to get started in business analysis
This is by far the best business analysis book for a anyone transitioning into a BA role. I purchased the book a couple of weeks ago and I'm more than impressed. It is very easy to read and tells you exactly what you need to know to understand business analysis tasks, ace interview rounds and land a BA job. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Provides a good picture of BA work, covers relevant ground in an easy way and aims to get you started on the job.
This is a good book if you want to be conversant about a BA's day to day job duties. It is a light read and therein lies its strength. Unlike other books on the same subject, it doesn't adopt a essayist approach but gets straight to the point about getting a job done. The writing is easy, and doesn't carry an aura of complexity.Pros:- Easy read and not intimidating for a newbie- Not philosophical but direct to the point of getting things done.- the author doesn't make any assumptions about the reader.- Has appropriate flow charts, and diagrams to illustrate the point.- Covers BA terminologies, wherever needed without making it too complicated.- Has many day to day examples.- includes a cheat sheet for interview and quick summary. It can also be got by emailing the author at his website. I got one in under two hours via email. That was really quick!- A list of expected interview questionsCons:- Some typo errors , e.g. categories instead of categorize.- A few example situations/walk-throughs/case studies would enhance this book greatly.- A few unexplained terms like WBS.- Project management components like cost, risk, could be explained further with methodologies to calculate them- Some high-level coverage of SQL and Object oriented Programming would have been great!- FRD template is missing.- A small section on BA tools like MS Visio would have been great. Example: a exercise on creating flow diagrams using the appropriate shapes in Visio.I guess, the author's other book probably covers a lot more ground and includes most materials from the cons list.Nevertheless, this is really a good read for someone new to BA, and doesn't pretend to be something else. It is for beginners, and a darn good one for it!It is a very good book for someone trying to cover relevant ground and face a BA interview on a short notice.
