Scanwood Olive Wood Spoon (3 Cooking Spoon Set 10 12 14)

Not one piece of olive wood - the head is stuck on the end of the stick which will be a week point in the future and don’t look great.

I love wood, but I have never been fond of wood cooking spoons. My wife is, however. Recently one of her old spoons split in half length wise. It was a light hardwood, perhaps Poplar or Tulipwood, like what ice cream treats are frozen on. After looking, I found she had no more wooden spoons, which she likes to make bread dough with.So, trip to Amazon and a review of spoons, and I picked these. First, they are olive wood. They don't impart flavor. They have a sturdy grain and should take abuse. They are attractive. They clean easily. They can be maintained by rubbing a bit of light-flavored olive oil into them after washing. They are three different lengths for convenience. But I was sure I still wouldn't like them.We have had them for a little while, now, and I do like them. They are quite attractive. They are comfortably light. They clean easily. And I will still occasionally get bread to eat!

I purchased these primarily for the longest spoon to replace an old wooden spoon that had gotten very worn down on one side from years of stirring from the bottom, I suppose. I need this big spoon for stirring the initial stage of bread dough, as well as for big pots of soups and stews. Feels good and strong when using and they are attractive spoons. The only drawback is the lip at the base of the spoon connecting it to the handle. It makes it harder to use a spatula to clear off the spoon. A smooth transition from the spoon part to the handle would be preferred. That's the way my old favorite spoons are. Since there are 3 spoons, I would also prefer one or two to have a smaller spoon part. Sometimes you don't want such a wide spoon.

Olivewood is light and stiff and has a lovely grain. It is a hardwood and has very little flex in it, which is great for stirring stews, chili, and heavy batter. They are thick enough I trust they'll do most anything I ask.These spoons look to be 2 pieces- the handle is a simple dowel and the spoon is turned. The dowel is glued into the spoon/bowl. I don't know how long the glue will last, but if it separates it will be simple enough to re-glue. The wood is smooth and lightly finished. Over time I'll re-apply a drying oil of some kind to keep them sealed.All in all these look like a nice product and will make great utensils and great gifts.

I am a canner, I make a LOT of jam, etc and the set with the 14 inch handled spoon was just the thing I was looking for. In the process I picked up the spatula which is perfect for my prized pans. Each piece is a delight to use and look at, light weight but sturdy and the grain in the wood is lovely. I have used them with berries that are prone to staining and the spoons wash right up and look great again! An excellent product couldn't be happier unless you make an even larger bowl on the spoons!

We were very skeptical about these spoons. The description says they were turned wood, but others thought they might have been glued. I can say with confidence ours are 100% one full piece of spoon head and handle, turned from a single block of wood. They are the perfect go to spoon that we use on all of our cookware because they are so gentle.I would say to keep good care of these and have them last you'll want to research how to oil your spoons to keep a protective coating on them, as they can stain if left soft and supple unprotected wood. The only other thing is the spoon head itself isn't terribly large, but it is large enough to pick up pasta and other things. But it is mostly meant for cooking a stirring pots. Which is how I use mine, and they're my go to cooking spoon. They're great at keeping a pot from over-boiling too if you just lay it overtop.

I was hoping to love these spoons as I am always in the kitchen cooking, and having good utensils and cookware is essential. After reading the reviews, I was sold. However, when I received them, I must admit I was a bit disappointed. The quality is fair, but the of the actual spoon is a great deal smaller than I had envisioned. For the price of the three, I was expected a great deal more.Continuing my search for high quality olive wood spoons that deliver.

Very good quality spoons. Can survive being soaked in soapy water overnight without warping. Have maintained their good looks after 9 months of heavy use and are still solid and warp-free. Lesser quality spoons either warp or come unglued. Head on small spoon is too large therefore deduction of 1 star.

I'm actually disappointed with the wood. I expected I'd have to oil the spoons from time to time, but it seems I'll need to oil them after each use! I have a couple wooden spoons I've had for over 20 years that have NEVER required oiling. I just wish I could find those again. 🙁

I love olive wood wooden spoons. I find them to be the most durable of all the wooden spoons that I have owned. To me, they are superior to maple which is a more common choice.

Really good sturdy spoons, and beautiful too. So much better than those cheap thin ones in the store!

I bought these spoons to replace very old wooden spoons. I bought a wooden spoon from another vendor and it turned out to be plastic. A true wooden spoon if placed across a boiling pot will not let the contents of the pot boil over. I have not had a chance to test these spoons yet.

I really like these spoons! They are built really good and strong for stirring and cooking with. This next part is just plane opinio but I also think the olive wood they are made out of is really cool. :)

I bought these as a gift for my mother and she loves them. They have a good weight to them, according to her. They have a lovely color besides. I don't really know what to say, because I don't get the deal with wooden spoons, but what ever qualities they're supposed to have, these apparently have all of them.

This type of wooden spoon seems to be of better quality than have used in past. Exceeds plain unfinished wood.
