Smart Pet Love - Snuggle Bird - Behavioral Aid Toy (Blue and Gold Macaw)

Haven't had the opportunity to use personally, but I know mine works, it is well made, and met the expectations of what I ordered. These Snuggle Pets can be life savers for traumatized pets leaving the shelter and entering new homes, or for puppies leaving their momm and their litter mates, yes, they don't work for every single puppy, dog, whatever. i would say the upside of having one on your person and readily available in case the puppy needs it is so much better than not having one on hand and possibly having an inconsolable little one that you will end up being up with all night, etc. I had a puppy like that before I ever new of these. She was traumatized. She was taken from her mom too soon. She was picked on by all the puppies around her because she was the smallest. At the same time she was used to her "pack," because she free roamed will all the litters the breeder had, so when she got to me, single, no pets, no pack, no breeder loving on her, she was beside herself. She was less than three pounds when I got her and she kept losing weight. I called the breeder and drove her back for the sake of the puppy. She needed to be back in that environment longer to thrive. Perhaps one of these Snuggle Pets would have helped her calm down? Perhaps not. But I do thing being in a small crate snuggling up to one of these would've have been at least some comfort to her. At any rate, I have one now even though I have no puppy. LOL. I have it on hand for the next puppy whenever my heart is ready again.

This came without the heartbeat (most important part and really only part I want) contacted seller to let them know and the promptly sent out the heartbeat and gave me a few extra warmers. The bird is cute has Velcro loops to attach to side of cage. Use for my rescue bottle kittens or single kittens in quarantine. The heartbeat really works even just in the area under a blanket, if the toy is dirty and needs washed. I've had 80 plus kittens in past year or so. It's been tested well. The heartbeat last about a week before it's too faint uses aaa batteries the back has a little screw I threw it away and used little masking tape if the back gets loose. I also put the heartbeat in a small ziplock just to keep it safe from pee/spills.

I wouldn't purchase this as a warming source for neonatals. It's just a onetime use handwarmer. Get yourself Snuggle safe for that. But this is an EXCELLENT tool for any animals weaned too early! And as kittens get older they love batting around the wings and gnawing on the beak. Just as good/if not better than the puppy and kitty versions at a fraction of the price. Plus this guy has velcro to attach him to something. You would need to supervise pups around it, as they might be able to chew open the velcro slit and get to the heart battery (but it would be VERY difficult).

I don't know what I would have done without this toy. We wrapped a blanket, with the scent of his mom and litter mates, which was sent to us by his breeder, around the toy. He did not cry even one night as he got used to us. We put is in his crate and slept with it next to us. The heart beat kept him calm. I would recommend this for anyone getting a puppy fresh from the litter.

Takes a minute to dig the heart out of the bird to turn it off, so I left the heartbeat on 24/7, ran for 24/13 then battery finally quit. Almost 2 weeks!It sleeps in the crate with our 9 week old Havanese. (11 weeks, now).I just did the "surgery" to change the batteries. Only takes a minute once you find a Phillips screwdriver and 2 AAAs.Here's the cool part. As I was "operating" on the bird, the puppy was concerned!!!Now we'll see if Amazon Subscribe and Save batteries are as good as the Chinese OEM batteries, LOL.

Hopefully this updates my review. It was first shipped without the heart. However, I notified the seller and was immediately shipped one. Even without it, my new boxer puppy loves this bird in his crate. It velcros onto the wire cage if you want, to that is really nice!

My little dog loves her Cockatoo - we've noticed that her sleep is more relaxed when she has this near her and the "heart" is beating. We use it only at night. She doesn't play with this - she has other toys for that!

this is a MUST HAVE for breeders. i recently had a singleton litter and this was exactly what i needed to keep the baby warm and snuggled up with a heart beat. good for washing in the machine too. i bought a few different kinds. this one i like a lot. highly recommended!
