I got this to hide a key outside my apt in case I ever got locked out. Since I know nothing is 100% secure, I hung it someplace really obscure on the building property. No one ever noticed it as far as I know. I never locked myself out until the ancient lock on my sliding glass door managed to slip into the locked position while I was outside on my enclosed upstairs deck. Either that or the cat decided to trap me on the deck. Seriously, the lock was loose and finally failed but into the locked rather than unlocked position. Luckily it was a nice weekend afternoon and several neighbors were home with their windows open. I yelled down and told one of them where to get my key to get in my apt and release me from my deck. The code I'd set over two years ago and never used worked fine--I never forget stuff like that. I later took the box down and was going to reset the code and hang the box someplace else weird. But the reset button was super hard to move and hold down. Maybe I was doing something wrong cause it was digging into my thumb and hurting a lot. As I was partway through the reset, I guess my sore finger gave out and now the code is halfway set? I'd changed the first two numbers and was somewhere between the 3 and the 4 on my way to setting the third number? I tried what I thought were the first two digits of the new code and then a few settings that were somewhere between the old and new codes. The old code doesn't work anymore and the box is still open. So at least I have the key and don't need to make a new one. But I will probably just have to buy a new lockbox. When I bought this it was half the price it is now so I suppose I might invest in something a bit better for the next time my cat locks me out, which I hope is never. I don't care what the thing looks like, the uglier the better. It can be tiny cause I have just one regular old key to my place. I'm not the type to leave a key under a mat or rock or buried in the yard. Annoyed that my finger still hurts and now the stupid box is useless, off to the metal recycling someday...when the quarantine is over...I guess.

Current Review: Im updating my review from 1 star to 4 star. My original purchase did not work. (see previous review below). Seller gave me the refund as noted. He then contacted me offering to send 2 (two) new locks free which I accepted. One lock has worked fine so far. The other lock was missing the "reset combo pin". (See attached pic). The 4 stars is because the lock is working as expected. One star off due to only 1 lock of 3 worked, so there is a quality control problem somewhere. The seller gets kudos for working hard to make it right. I appreciate that.Previous Review. Right out of the box, I followed the directions and it would NOT open. Lucky I did not put a key in it before the test. And yes, I have used many similar combo locks, but was looking for a heavy duty one which this is. Too bad undependable. The seller responded quick with refund, though I had to ship it back at their cost. I really wanted to like this, but work-ability and dependability are CRUCIAL!

I use to lock myself out of the house 1-2 times a month. I don't know why. Sometimes, I just don' think about it or sometimes I'm in such a hurry, i forget to grab the keys. AFTER i got a puppy, i locked myself out of the house 1-2 times A WEEK! Between water, leash and trying to train my dog, i always forgot the keys. Jumping the patio and breaking into the house starting looking suspicious. I bought this so I can stop doing that. This was exactly what I needed! It was extremely easy to set up and sits nicely on the storage room door. It sturdy and heavy duty enough that I trust leaving it outside all the time. Now, when I leave the house with my dog, I no longer take my keys! YAY! AND.... bonus... I have a neighbor that takes my dog out for me sometimes when I'm gone during school and she just uses the key that's in this lock lox. Also a bonus, when my sister or friend needs to come by to pick something up or drop something off, I don't need to be home. This is just nice to have. No need for a hide-a-key.

You need to know that the capacity is just one small (regular) sized key. You cannot fit anymore than that in this box. Also, it will not fit a large Multilock key, the like of which is used on many front doors. Not even one of those large keys. It is incorrectly stated in the listing as holding 4 keys, but that is not valid.On the positive side, it's relatively easy to use, considering how awkward most of these types of boxes are.For my front doors, I had to splurge and switch to a Schlage Connect electronic lock system, which defeats the need for a lockbox.I kept this little one though, as it comes in handy for its limited usage.

We got this to let the nurses and aides have access to our home easier. It has worked well. Simple to set and to change the code if we feel it is necessary.We just wish the key holder was a tiny bit bigger

Serves its purpose very well. Not the largest one I have seen, but it is all we need. Programmed easily.

I bought two of these and the open button on one of them was broken. They were out of stock, so I had to buy a similar item. This item is superior because (1) spin lock is easy to move, (2) the open button works well (when not DOA) and (3) the base has a built in box to hold the key (the replacement lock box has no box, so you put the key on the door and slam quickly). I have tried three lock boxes and this is my favorite.
