This should be a required read for all residents. This is the prefect balance.
This is an excellent book. Concise, straight to the point and yet detailed enough to pass any exam. Strongly recommend for residents and fellows. Strongly recommend for Absite and ABTS exams.

This is a nicely detailed book in a small packaging !
I bought this new edition because I had the older edition and I liked it. This edition is much better than the first, with more details and an expanded thoracic section.The binding of this edition is paperback (compared to the heavy duty nice vinyl binding of the older edition), and feels cheaper than the previous one. With such kind of manuals/books where one anticipates lot of page turning and shuffling, I see the softcover paper binding being an issue.The book touches on basically ALL the topics in cardiac/pediatric/thoracic and even operative stuff.Chapters are nicely organized and every chapter starts on the left page with the right page sometimes left less-than-full, a feature that will greatly enhance the reading experience and I personally prefer this method of editing.In summary: Great book, highly detailed in a deceivingly small packaging.Highly recommended.

Very useful book
Very well presented book that will be of benefit to all health professionals involved in the treatment and care of Cardiothoracic patients - trainee surgeons, nurses, ODPs, SCPs etc.
