Product Description After touring constantly for 12 months, Darren Hayes is about to release a stunning live concert DVD of his most ambitious and critically acclaimed concert tour to date : The Time Machine Tour.Quietly selling out London s prestigious Royal Albert Hall, Hayes audaciously toured a show that had more in common with Pink Floyd than American Idol. The show, designed by legendary U2 and Rolling Stones designer Willie Williams featured, amongst other things, a 24 foot animatronic steel and neon origami bird and set pieces straight from a Jules Verne novel. The DVD marks the completion of a project that has seen Hayes graduate from pop star to label head and CEO of his own independent record company.A year before the likes of Radiohead decided to snub major label EMI, Hayes had announced plans to go it alone via his own label Powdered Sugar releasing his double album This Delicate Thing We ve Made with little fanfare. Just great songs, intricate art piece music videos and a blistering live band.Accountants, managers and suits and ties advised him against spending so much of his own money on such a show. But Hayes famously ignored them and took the elaborate production all over the UK and Australia. The DVD was shot in his hometown of Brisbane Australia on the final night of the tour.''This was the tour I've always dreamed of. Bowie and Peter Gabriel made the blueprint for this type of rock theatre and although it sounds morbid, doing a show like this was one of my before I die wishes. I simply had to do something like this once in my life and I couldn t think of a better moment than this period to try'', Hayes said.Costume design stitched by makers from the Royal Shakespeare Company and set pieces by the folks who put U2 in a Lemon and George Michael in front of the largest video screen ever built the show was a spectacle that had to be seen to be believed. Review ''A joyous mix of pop, rock and electronica, delivered with verve and enthusiasm'' --The Guardian''A Theatrical Extravaganza!'' --Manchester Evening News

"Tour of Time Machine Fun"
"The Time Machine Tour" by Darren Hayes is a very engaging and unique concert to watch. The title obviously gives away the time machine tour, and this is what makes it even more interesting to watch if you are open-minded to the potential concept of time machines. I say this because the songs that he selected go with the concept of time travel. Darren does a good job with ensuring that what he sings is in alignment with the theme. The following is the list of the music that he goes through in the concert:Introduction1.The Future Holds a Lion's Heart2. Who Would Have Thought3, How to Build a Time Machine4, Neverland5. Insatiable6. On the Verge of Something Wonderful7. Listen All You People8. The Best Thing9. The Only One10. Void11. Darkness12. Step Into the Light13. I Like the Way14, Words15. Casey16. So Beautiful17, I Want You18. Affirmation19. Me, Myself,& I20 The Great Big Disconnect (basically the closing of the concert) My favorite performances of the concert are "Insatiable", "On the Verge of Something Wonderful,""I Like the Way," "So Beautiful," and "I Want You" (this musical classic as many know is from timeframe when Darren was in Savage Garden). What I also enjoyed about the concert is how Darren puts alot of energy and passion into both his singing of the songs and the discussions that he gives before playing his music. For example, he gives a healing reminder when he implies that it is more joyful to make peace with anything in your life that you wish to have gone back in time to change instead of being concerned with what could have been done differently. Part of me already knew this, but it is always good to be reminded of such helpful insights when being entertained. I find many of his songs on his "Spin" cd to be enjoyable, and this "Time Machine Tour" dvd is an uplifting addition to my collection. The "Time Machine Tour" dvd is best enjoyed by anyone who likes pop, dance, and/or electronica music. On a side, this also reminds me (in a positive way) of the fun Adam Lambert Glam Nation Live dvd that I watched less than a week ago. I say this because Darren's music is very high-energy and creative (much like Adam's). In my humble opinion, the possibility of Adam Lambert and Darren Hayes performing at a concert together one day would be very exciting. I also must say that many who like any of Darren's songs (whether from his solo albums and/or Savage Garden) are also going to enjoy "The Time Machine Tour" dvd.

Beyond The Paradoxical...
Darren Hayes is a master of live performances. As the proud owner of Savage Garden's "Superstars & Cannonballs," and his solo concert, "Too Close For Comfort" (which I've had to permanently change my media player's regional coding for just so I could watch it), I can attest to this man's ability to play off a crowd. To take all the energy they pump into him, and send it right back at them in the form of a stellar, energetic performance. His latest concert, "The Time Machine Tour," only refines that art. The concert represents a high point in Darren's life...married to a man he loves, happy and successful but relatively unburdened by the trappings of mega-celebrity or "faddishness." I envy this man's personal happiness, but it shows through and affects his fans through his work, his music, and his performances...The performance on "Time Machine" is top-notch. Each song is perfectly suited to where it is sung...with the surprising exception of "Affirmation," a personal favorite, placed near the end of the show rather than as the grand finale as has been his trademark up till now. Darren has remixed Affirmation several different times, going for a more heartfelt, less synthesized version each time. This one may be a little bit simplified, but it's still recognizable as the same song...and with the sentiments in that number, and "Casey," the track from TDTWM that preceded it, simpler can sometimes be better.Of course, what goes for music doesn't necessarily go for the stage itself. Each set piece is lavish and beautiful, with stunning surprises practically each and every song...the most impressive of which in my opinion comes between "Casey" and "Affirmation." Keep an eye out.All in all, I highly recommend this to any fan of Darren's, or the pop/rock genre in general. I also recommend this to people who associate 'pop' with the teenybopper genre. This is adult contemporary at its finest, both showstopping and thought-provoking.5 stars, and counting.

Darren, Thank You For Giving Us Your Best Concert Ever On DVD
When I first heard Darren Haye's first solo album "Spin" I always assumed that he would have a better carrier solo than with Savage Garden. Well afew years past and I really didn't hear much from him. Then in 2007 I was flipping thru the channels and I ended up on LOGO and I saw this incredible music video (with this awesome song). The weird thing was that the singer looked and sounded so familiar to me. It turned out that it was Darren with his music video "On the Verge of Something Wonderful." I immediately ran on the computer went on amazon.com and bought his CD "This Delicate thing We've Made." When I got it I couldn't stop listening to it it was smart, clever, and I think HIS BEST CD EVER!!! Now, I know most of you who are reading this are wondering what the Hell this has to do with the concert, but, one of my friends had the pleasure of seeing him in concert and he told me that the show was great. The best song he performs is "Casey"(which is coincidentally the best song on the CD) and that he compared it to a Madonna show (only it was a little more intimate). If you like Darren it would be extremely wise for you to get this DVD. Oh, and if you want to see Darren in concert check out the Savage Garden DVD "Live and on Tour in Australia."
