MarkalThermomelt Temperature Indicator Heat Stick, 350 Degrees Fahrenheit, 5" Length

This product works great just as intended. I find it useful when welding thin metal so I don't blow through although I have quite a few co-workers who find them useless in their specialties. I'd recommend buying this if you work with thin metal or need a somewhat accurate indicator of temperature when preheating metal. I give it 5 stars but this is a product that's usefulness is individualized. Always think before you buy but 20 dollars isn't terrible in this line of work either.

I ordered 8 pens, all different temperature ratings… every single pen arrived broken and or missing parts.The pen works by tightening the cap to grip the inner temp stick, when the stick is broken into 4+ pieces upon arrival, the pen will need to grip each piece individually and will waist a lot of the temp stick... that is if you even get all of the inner temp stick, half of it was missing in some cases.Other pens arrived just as the metal pen body, without the inner temp stick at all.And one pen didn’t arrive at all.

Works as described. I use this as a temp indicator on 30-30 brass. I now can anneal my brass when needed and know it is done at the right temp. It is less expensive that other products so it fits my budget better.Thanks Amazon and thanks Markal.

I'm trying determine the temp of some brass that I am annealing. In theroy I get no melt at all below the specified temp. The brass pieces are smallish, so I get very little melt, but any melt tells me it's there. So over all I think it is indicating as needed. Overall it is the best method I have found yet. I will continue to use.

I'm sure this is a fine product and I'm looking forward to using it, but it was shipped loose in a thin plastic bag with no protective padding. The temperature stick inside the metal holder was broken into 3 parts. For my occasional use as a hobbyist, it'll be fine - no need to replace, but pro industrial welders, needing to check metal temperature frequently would want undamaged sticks.

Broke in 4 pieces on arrival. First one didn't even get delivered.

Showed up cracked but still works

Total garbage. Dried out already when I got it. Won't stick to anything and just burns to black carbon instantly with any heat. Waste of money, get the better stuff.
