Economical prong but not the best quality. For a high use prong use Herm Sprenger
Heavy and clunky, not as precise as herm sprenger prong. PLEASE before you use these, learn to use them properly.Prongs should fit snugly (ie when placed behind the ears the should not be drooping to falling on their own)It is meant to be coupled with a regular collar, as prongs can potentially fail or break, and then you'd have a loose dogIt is meant to be placed, again snugly, behind the ears close to the head, NOT on the base of the neck. The point of this is to ensure pressure from the prong is not hitting the dog's trachea, which is what flat collars do and why they are unsafe for heavy pullers. Tracheas are not all that sturdy and can collapse or tear. This is not meant to be used for harsh leash corrections. The reason prongs are effective is because they place pressure around the whole neck. A small wrist flick to get the dog back into a heel position is typically all that's needed. This prong in particular I really wouldn't recommend. The prongs are large and imprecise, I really think medium and small prongs are best for just about any size dog and they can ensure a better fit. I would only recommend this size for giants potentially like Great Danes.

It broke apart and my dog ran free.
UPDATED: (4 stars to 1 star) We have two dogs, a pit mix and a wiener mix. This collar is amazing for our pit, she doesn't hate it at all and yet it's supper effective with a jerk and a "no". In 5 minutes our pit went from a crazy puller (she literally has pulled my 11 year old son and wife off of their feet) to a completely obedient, heeling super dog.Our 30lb wiener mix was traumatized by the collar and wouldn't walk on the leash for a week after the first correction (I guess I pulled too hard). During the week of fear as it has been come to be known, she would lay down, rolls over and refuse to walk, even with a flat collar. We are still working with her to get her to feel safe again on a leash. If I could go back I time, I would have warned past me to be super gental with our smaller dog, barely pulling at all with the correction.Being so small, we don't really notice her pulling, but it's still a bad habit and we plan on buying the plastic "pinch" collar for her in the future. Reviews say it's less effective than collars like this one but maybe that's what she needs, something less effective. On a side note, I've worn this collar myself and had my wife jerk, as she would with our pit. It's not really painful, uncomfortable yes...but not painful. This collar seems to work much better than our beep/vibrate/shock collars too. Somehow our pit knows exactly what is expected from her with this collar....where the electronic collar doesn't seem as clear to her when it comes to pulling. The electronic collar does work great for rough housing or other non-leash related issues but when it comes to walking edicut this collar is far superior.UPDATE: Our pit-mix's collar broke as she ran to meet the neighbor dog. Thank goodness that our dogs aren't runners nor aggressive! It could have been a tragedy if this happened during a walk near the road. We will be returning these and buying something that doesn't have a pattern (I've read on other reviews that this has happens to others) of breaking.

Great collar!
Can't believe I haven't bought one of these sooner. It makes walking your dog a dream. I used to think it was some type of a torture device, but with being pregnant and needing to train this doggy before the baby arrives, and the pup jerking me around a few times, I had to try something new. You don't have to use it in a cruel way, it honestly does the work itself. Someone told me the prongs resemble the mother dog's teeth. She only has to pull slightly to realize that's not okay. She never appears or acts like it hurts her. My only fear is that some people use these to be cruel to their pets when it's not necessary at all. Please be a responsible, patient, and loving pet owner! The only reason I gave this 4 stars and not 5 is because is because it is difficult to latch it.

Best Training Tool
This collar is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!! We tried everything to train our rescue dog to safely walk on a leash without wildly pulling and running after everything that moved. Nothing worked until I tried this inexpensive practical device. It worked perfectly, and my dog seemed happy wearing it. Just a little tug is enough to signal him to stop pulling, and he immediatly gets the message and responds. It does not seem to hurt him in any way, but it’s enough to get his attention and tell him to stop pulling. I used the same method to get him to stop wildly yelping and barking at passing cars, and it worked perfectly. I highly recommend this collar. It’s easily adjustable in size, humane, and it’s very easy to use.

Recommended by our trainer, not many like this available
Our 7 month old pibble mix had been tugging and pulling on walks or he was being stubborn and not wanting to walk unless bribed with treats. We had a real rough time with other humans and dogs where he wanted to run up to them or after them. The birds and squirrels became a constant struggle. Our trainer suggested this time of prong collar but because our pup is shorter than most pibbles and weighs 30-40 lbs she recommend the 2.3 mm prong thickness. After searching, there were not many options of this kind of collar at this size. The other ones were much much more expensive than I was willing to spend despite needing it for training.I originally bought one that fit just perfect around his neck. The puppy pulled a few times and the first time let out a squeal which was hard to stomach. However, he has not pulled since. Walking became much much easier! We don’t have to worry about other dogs or people. If I tug a little on the leash he will back off of wanting to chase the squirrels. Now, this collar was meant for dogs much smaller than our pibble mix who ultimately out grew the collar. I looked for extensions but found that this collar was such a great value that buying a second one was cheaper than buying extra links. I added two extra prongs and it fits great!! My puppy doesn’t hide from the leash, he has a lot of slack, and he can sense it tighten before it digs into him so he will adjust his behaviors. I would highly recommend this for training.

Incredible
We have a young high energy Mastiff that pulls like a horse and goes ballistic whenever he sees another dog. Not aggressive, just wants to play; but try calmly yelling that across the street to Gertrude and her 2 lb Teacup Yorkie as he's trying to drag you over. We have tried a couple of the muzzle-style halti's and had no real luck. Worked *okay* for the 5 minutes he would keep it on but Mastiff's have a short snout and a big neck, so sizing was part of the problem. The other part was that he didn't respect it enough to leave it alone; it was a mild annoyance at best. THIS thing he respects. One yank and you've got his full attention; something the halti's could never do.It doesn't seem to bother him and he isn't scared of it. Doesn't paw at it, try to shake it off, or go running for the hills when we pull it out of the closet. To the contrary; he's excited for the walk when he sees it and doesn't try to resist us putting it on. But however this thing is pinching him, it does the trick. So much so that with strict supervision and guidance on technique, we're beginning to let our 7 and 8 year old kids walk him. That's not something we could ever have considered with a halti or traditional collar. These are common sense tips if you've ever used these types of non-traditional collars but for anyone who hasn't:- There should be slack in the leash until you need to correct him. Give it a quick little yank and then release - do not keep pulling.- Make sure you have it on right. It can be a little tricky the first few times but its worth taking the extra minute or two to be positive it's correct. Shouldn't be too tight, leash connection needs to sit on top of the neck as opposed to below, and make sure it cinches easily. If you give a little tug and he doesn't stop in his tracks to give you a 'whoa what was that?' look, it's probably on wrong.Long story short, I couldn't recommend this more.

Safety with control
NOW I have control ,my dog walks nicely I’m not dragged down the street. It’s not hurtful to the dog I put it around my neck and pulled and twisted to make sure it wasn’t going to puncture her skin and I mean I pulled and twisted . I would NEVER EVER HURT MY DOG !! So the prong collar didn’t hurt me remember I did this on bare skin and It didn’t cut me. It’s also safe to walk my dogI have control she sees another dog ,cat ,rabbit she won’t run across the street maybe in front of a car the prong collar tightens and she is Persuaded to stay Where she is I love them and I think the collars are great.

Perfect for my puggle
Initially, I wasn't a fan of this product in general. I felt like it was abusive to the animal. Prior to purchasing this collar, we tried a harness, and a collar that tightens when the dog pulls, which is supposed to reducing pulling, as the tightening of the collar is uncomfortable. Well, my puggle didn't mind the collar tightening and would continue to pull and choke himself with the collar. Additionally, walks were still extremely unpleasant. I finally caved into trying one of these collars (my boyfriend was a huge supporter of them). Within seconds of putting the collar on, he pulled one time and immediately stopped. He didn't cry or sound like he was choking like he did with the previous collar, and he still really enjoys walks. He runs away from the collar when we take it off the hook, but he did that with all collars. It has made walks enjoyable for the first time since he was a tiny baby. It also was easy to remove links when the collar was too big.

Worth the buy!!
My pittie is 9 months old and I got him the biggest size. I saw a difference right away. From the first time I used this collar he had stopped pulling instantly. I went from not being able to control him with both my hands to being able to hold him back with just my pinky! I tried the collar on myself before I put it on him and it wasn't that bad as long as I didn't keep pulling which I believe he understands. Benji or any other dog would not intentionally hurt themselves.

Too sharp - prongs are not smoothe
We have a collar like this for our bigger dog and we got it from Germany. It is excellent and works well. The prongs are shaved down and rounded so that it doesn't hurt the dog and mimics the mothers bite. This collar is way too sharp and hurts my dog just to have it on. It's like each edge is a paperclip digging into the neck which isn't really fair to put on my dog since he yelps just sitting on his neck. It isn't tight at all (and we know how to use these as we have another!)So unfortunately, I have to give this a 1 rating. I understand each dog is different and maybe I got a lemon collar that wasn't finished!Hopefully anyone else buying this doesn't get so unlucky! :)
