Relatively quiet; so far so good; 👍 value
Update:* This pump will indeed do 0.05 atm with proper sealing. 👍 Should be more than adequate for "picky" vacuum distillation. I've also used it to assist in drying 3a and 4a molecular sieve -- microwave procedure (see internet).* The liquid trap was difficult for me to get off the first time. I wound up using channellock pliers ... carefully ... to loosen it. Hand tightening it back, tightly, worked fine afterward.* Still working fine!Original post:I've put maybe 40 hours of vacuum distillation time on this pump. Works fine. Not really sure what its ultimate vacuum is -- 0.1 to 0.05 atm probably? Dissolved air comes out of water immediately at room temperature. Just got a gauge....Pretty quiet (won't interfere with tv/regular conversation), no harsh sounds, and currently I'm taking no steps to muffle it.Seems like I picked a good one for some hobby chemistry, so far. Price was very right. And of course killer for vacuum filtration.

Relatively quiet little workhorse
Good pump, much quieter than the oil splattering lab pumps I've used. Does a decent job with vacuum filtration of pastes. It's cute, clean and easy to use. Hides under a kitchen table chair. The on/off switch is on the power cord, which is nice because you can place the switch somewhere more convenient than right on the pump.

Works great, but will not turn on while under vacuum
This pump works great, but mine will not turn on while under vacuum. I wish I knew why. And I wish I knew how to fix this or upgrade my pump to turn on under vacuum. While under vacuum, I have to use a shutoff valve inline, to remove the vacuum. Start the pump. Then release the shutoff to re-apply vacuum.Otherwise, the pump is great, it sucks hard down to 28 easily.

Better than the "Amazon choice"
This little pump is amazing. Not even for just the price. It's just all around amazing. It's running my rotovap very well, it's "bigger brother" model is what I was running before. But this has deeper vacuum.I have tried a couple other oil-less diaphragm pumps off of amazon, including the expensive ones.. I think this beats thoseExtremely quiet, discreet, I'm happy.

Pretty good pump. Some limitations.
Fairly quiet and draws a vacuum quickly. It’s working well in my application, which is evacuating the air from a hold-down for a concrete core drill. A few cons: 1) the pump won’t start if there is already a vacuum present at the outlet; 2) as other reviewers have said, the fittings can’t be removed without risk of damage; 3) no information about fittings or filter in description (i.e., thread sizes, replacement parts). This seems like it’s intended to be a disposable (not repairable) pump.

Great as a vacuum source for pressure calibration
We are using this a vacuum source to calibrate pressure transducer. It's used with a mensor pressure controller and it allows for very stable control. With minimal leakage (there's always some), we're able to achieve ~0.5psia. That's excellent for our needs. I was concerned it would be slow to pull the vacuum but that was an unfounded worry. It's quick and holds the vacuum well.
