Well I'm intrigued
Unique and building storyline. I'm intrigued enough to get the entire series so I can find out what happens. A lot of characters but surprisingly easy to keep track of.

Enjoyable Read!
This is an interesting story of the human race being defeated centuries before the start of the book. They are now slaves in the worst possible sense. They are forced onto a drug that keeps them placid and following orders. They are killed in sporting games, etc.But there is a Light!A fun read for me because it comes at this idea in a different way.Just got book 2.The adventure continues.

Awaking to the idea of freedom.....at last!
I enjoyed the unusual premise of this book. The story takes place far into the future - at least 10,000 years. Humans have spread throughout the galaxy - but they've lost their position as a leading civilization. While less advanced species have assimilated all that humanity discovered and accomplished - colonization, interstellar travel and more - human beings have become a race of slaves to all others. They are kept chemically altered by a potent drug known as Shackle, which numbs their natural resistance to enslavement, and are reviled, killed for sport and worked unto death. But now there is a new hope that humanity can be released from this nightmare and set free once again. A virus has been developed which neutralizes the effects of Shackle, and a sympathetic alien influencer wants to help the humans in his charge spread the virus among the slave population, free all slaves and facilitate a new rise to power for their kind. The cast of characters is believable and compelling, and the tale of how this disparate group of newly freed slaves accomplish their goal is compelling. I recommend this book.

Interesting Start to Series
Legends is the first book in the Freedom series. This book can be read as a standalone. Though personally I would not stop with this book as the plotline is too good to not read more about these characters. There is violence. I am really enjoying the start to this series! It really makes me wonder how I would react if I was one of these characters who became awake and aware. I also think it is interesting to note that these aliens are lazy and unimaginative and just rely on what we humans created millennia ago and haven't advanced beyond that tech.

A really great book well worth your time serious and fun at same time.
Stephen Arseneau has written a book that shows the worst and the best in what could be different species it shows and highlights the power of mankind’s ability to create from scratch and the possible long term dependability of what we can make without the need of planned obsolescence if we let ourselves become inferior to others what the cost of that can be and how we can develop the ability and willingness to triumph can’t wait for next step in this adventure but I am keeping my mind open because what seems to be happening is not always what happens. I believe you will find this book well worth the investment in time and money.

Absolutely Loved It!
Not only is the book well written, with wonderful, captivating characters, it has a fantastic plot! Every human in the known universe is a double slave. All have alien masters, all are addicted to a drug that dumbs them down. They are completely docile and under control. But some become infected with a disease that leaves them free of the addiction and “awake”. Enter an alien master that recognizes the advantages of intelligent humans and the evils of slavery. If he can climb to a position with enough power he promises to free the slaves.Who has the most power? Those with the most credits of course. Possibly you will recognize rich politicians or those behind the scenes as role models for these greedy aliens. I can’t wait for the book to see what happens next.

Well written with interesting storyline
Book was entertaining yet awful from the humanity point of view. Well written and kept my attention. It is weird though that the primary aliens are excited to take down their own kind in order to free humanity. However, this book is well written and worth the readers time.

Very original
I’m not sure I have read a novel where the humans were slaves but used their slavery as a tool to overthrow their masters. It’s a fresh outlook that had escaped me and I love it. Great writing and characterization. Really good story. Thank you Stephen Arsenealt.

I'm now unsure why I read to the end of this book, the story is absurd
Mankind had been overthrown and been forcibly addicted to a drug that leave eveyone stupid - slaves that when they aresn't doing manual jobs are killed for entertainment. I suppose I can just about accept that as the basis of a story. We're then asked to accept the premise that the other starfaring races as not as intelligent as humans that are not addicted. Then it gets really silly. Humans who have been addicted since childhood and lost their addiction as adults have the capacily to learn in months what it takes the rest of us a lifetime? They then start to impact large scale, planet wide economies over a period of just months?? Meanwhile the same aliens, who have been running the old human empire for 10,000 years are gullible enough to believe supposedly stupid humans who tell them to so stupid things. Why on earth did I actually read to the end of this book!

Freedom
Loved the book, a very different scenario of the demise of the human race, and the slow rise to freedom. I thought the use of drugs to bring about our downfall a very human failing and very feasible idea. It was exciting and the characters were very believable, I found myself rooting for them and a real sense of anger for the treatment of our species, even though it was fantasy. Can't wait to read the next in the series. Fab
