‘Mi scuso per il ritardo’ – I apologize for being late
Lingo Mastery continues its highly successful mission – to make Italian more accessible to a wider population. In the Introductory Note the goal is stated well: ‘If you have finally decided to visit one of the most beautiful countries in the world, then you can’t help but consider the words, phrases, ways of saying that you will use in certain situations, which you must know before leaving. Thanks to this book, we will see how to deal with many situations that can be simple, complicated, funny or even not funny at all. All those real situations that a tourist will experience when, for example, they want to drink a coffee, order a good amatriciana, or simply tell the waiter what they have just eaten has not been to their liking…Most of the time, a translation with the vocabulary at your fingertips is the best solution and therefore, why not take precautions and study a few phrases that could amaze your fellow travelers or you interlocutors?’What follows, before the phrases placed here to learn, is a fine lesson in pronunciation of vowels, consonants, and then the supply of valuable lessons begins – colors, numbers, medical, ordering food, emergency, apologies, the weather, hotel, directions – all spelled out in accessible format with Italian to English translation to correct pronunciation for learning. And so it proceeds with one of the more accessible adjuncts to mastering the Italian vocabulary in a manner that places words in context and thus – easy to remember! The technique is solid and the lessons well taught. This is a very fine introduction to Italian, appropriate for all age levels, Grady Harp, February 20

Not really for traveling
There is small sections that would be useful for traveling but a lot of the phrases are things like “did you remember to turn the stove off” and other things that I wouldn’t really say to someone in Italy.

Meh.
Good information, but its hard to use and hard to find what you want quickly.

Liked the phrases and situations in this book
Really liked the phrases. They were natural and easy. Suggest you prep for a day out by loooking at some common phrases and being ready. Courtesy goes a long way in Italy. Not that someone didn’t flip out at me in the grocery store but… I had no idea what she said. Too fast. Be bold be courteous. It goes a long way.

Good, but some strange things too
Very useful, but some funny sentences about asking if it's a color tv and other things. But it shows how the sentences are built I guess.

Angel in your backpack!
Lingo Mastery's "Easy Italian Phrase Book" is a worthy entry in a long line of such publications. This book is easy to read and gentle on the eyes - a pleasant change from most other foreign language phrase books, but perhaps slightly bigger (more cumbersome) than many. Still, I found the contents more than accessible, and it proved of enormous help on countless occasions.
