The Rig Veda

Excellant read, lovely wrks f hmns f the nd or 3rd oldest mythical system. I do warn no notes but o cn fnd them easily....
Its lovely poetry in itself, similar n a awy to psalms in western tradition. Albeit there are nno notes , you can goo the hindu website or the collection of phlsophical worksto get background n the gods of the Rig Veda. It was a hymnal of sngs sung during rituals.I got it as, its part of my life studies and I neeeded to get to t, as Ive read the egyptan works and the sumeiran. One thing of note that is indirectly related, Sumerian myths are curtailed or hard to get past books published in the ealy 20th century, best is by a scsholar who was part of thee U of Penn Dig round 1850 when the discovered Ur, I thinm Might have been Nippur, Oxford got the other and so forth. But around 1940 in a reprint it said the fll translatonsand works were all found and translated ande xpect a new book by 1941, it never came and smerian wrks have been hushed by acadamia since short of those. Its interesting as Smerian myth was erased from histry once before, and i think as it celebrated Urbanism wheras all avaiable mth has similar stries, pandora and prometheus, and Eden, to note two, and in GIlgamesh, he whore of babylon is a key figure who educes the primal man of innocence, ENdiku i think, who could speak iwth the animal andwas strong, but the hunter of babylon couldnt get game so ths the hired a prostiute and then civilized him. But it relates to the veds in that, and the rig veda, in that, a man has recently wrote a book, who translated the myths hiself as you can buy books and learn smerian, but he claims alins made us, whch is possibl, but improbable, I remain always a true skepic open but cautious, but if you look into the backgroudn of the vedas, you'll see that they offer some as the gods couldn't feed themselves, as was idntical in Sumerian, which may just be the origin of most myth, including the BIble and related religions, whch is whI think pressure has been imposed on acadamia to no talk about it, but the alien guy's argument was n the aspect of the gods not being able to eat, and, I think he may hav emissed the vedas.BUt i needed to get to the facts myself as i like to solve things.ALlreligions are to me at least primarily identical with few variants that were , well, early man beleived they were part of a whole, a life force, and in india, the had Dharma, which is Obligaions, which any wre feeding the gods, as man was helpless, as the greeks say, to neccessity and fate, and the gods had power and knowledge. But if you erase what we are taught to beelive and read merely primary translation by noted scholars, and not tertiary books where conclsion are provided for you, in time you se that, the differces are more due to cultural circumstances, the historical situation or context during the writing, and he environment as that effects the language and metaphores. then that to remember, like with the greek myths, onl one book i read translated the proper nouse, so I found PPrometheues was fore thoughtand epimetheus was afterthought, but in timeas and critias , from plato, scholars dont mention that they say, the greks are monotheistic, and tha the myths are in a way the scientiifc llanguage or intellcual language as math is today, so in the past they used allegory. But so hte book is wonderful, the bacgrond can be found easily on hte net, so dont need ntes if you like reading you;ll get a backgroudn as deep as you wish, and if you read onl listneign and nt thinking or reacting conitivel, but just soak i in, ou;ll see much infmration ca be crrued that is eh, as the Zen masters put is seeeing the hiddden throgh what is not hidden. Do not underestimate yorselves. T often we are merely the culminatin f other peope l ideas and beleifs and to find peace or improve that thinker machine brain gizmo, ou have to becoem our own authority.Otherwise, eh, you ever wonder why zombie myths are so loved right nw and tat the arose in the 60's, thats becaue they are a modern myth, and reflect the current society, of the free thinker, fightign against a sstem of mindless peopel with the virus of propaganda and culture, the remants of thousand sof ears f history, and now, quality hsa been fosaken for quantity, corporations are buing hte govtsof the world, and pople have o live, or have no freedom but a material security, and we go through life having to make choices not of ou r own heart and more often we beocme repressed and escpist, so in america, eve lost community and are not its each man for himself. Alot like zombies. Gah I can run on like a ticker tape. haha...blah blah blah, its a fantastic book. Lovely wording.

Excellent!
The book arrived in excellent condition. I've not had a chance to read it yet, as I have a lot of books I purchased at once, but I did skim through and am excited to dive into it. This is an important addition to my collection of sacred works. Thanks!

All English
This is a complete english translation. It does not contain the original sanskrit or transliteration (of sanskrit), as I would have liked. Still, it is a great volume for the price, and the integrity of the verses is preserved.

The Rig Veda: Complete
This volume is the whole Rig Veda which is a unique event in itself due to lack of other full translation at an affordable price. The range of prayers this book covers is enormous and gives a direct view into the mindset of this civilisation of at least three thousand years ago. Here history is shrouded in myth and the religious attitudes of the ancient Indian people ring out from these pages.Translated by Ralph T H Griffith in 1889 and long out of print is a full translation of the entire work. The price is wonderful and for those needing a glance into the forgotten world of Vedic India would be hard pressed to surpass this book for another version of Rig Veda for at least double the price. For an English person wanting to swim in the tide of these ancient prayers then this is a good investment that can give years of inspirational reading. Here you will meet Indra, Rudra,Agni and praises to soma the sacrificial offering to the Vedic Gods with verses to be sung to them in quiet ritual of wonder. This is a good book for any interested modern researcher to add to the bulging bookshelves and the publishers Forgotten Books are to be applauded for reprinting many of these long out of print treasures.
