Heavy and well made
This is metal and seems very well made. It is not 100% accurate to the real thing, but close enough for my 5 year old. He loves the life-sized version at the Air and Space museum, so this is what he asked Santa for. The only packaging it came in was a clear plastic bag, so it's not the prettiest gift packaging, but we took it out and wrapped it "from Santa" anyway.

Great toy plane for the price.
We went and saw the real SR-71 and my grandson had to have this toy. Strong diecast and when pulled back, it will travel about 30 feet.

Good Toy
I bought this because I'm a broke college student who just really loves the SR-71 and wants one to have in my dorm room, but didn't want to pay about a hundred dollars for a tiny model. The item came in quickly and looks great. It's nice and big, bigger than my hand, and it's made of metal for the most part, only a few pieces of plastic, like the cockpit glass and in the wheel mechanism. It moves good when I pull it back and works as it should. It's pretty detailed and definitely looks like the real plane and even has a cockpit you can look into and see a pilot inside. However, I will say that while it is detailed, the paint job and general construction isn't the most smooth. There are bumpy seams and painting errors, like one of the air force logos having a smudge upon opening. If you're looking for a toy plane, this is a great choice. If you're looking for a cheap and good-sized model to display, it's sturdy and pretty big, but don't expect a model-quality appearance.

A MOSTLY Metal Plane
My 4-year-old son loves airplanes, but I am so sick and tired of all of the plastic ones that quickly break. I was very excited to find this one and even more excited to find that it is made MOSTLY out of a heavy duty metal. It does have plastic underneath the plane, such as the wheels and belly, but still feels very durable. My son has been very happy with it. Well worth the price.

A little pricey but the grandkids loved them.
My grandsons loved these (4 and 8 year olds). They are getting old enough now to be a little gentler (!) on their toys so I bought these. So far they are holding up but only time will tell true durability for those ages. They are nice looking and feel hefty so I am happy with purchase. Only negative is that they come just wrapped in plastic - a real box or blister pack would be nice for gift giving.

AWESOME TOY
One of my 2 year old favorite toys. This thing goes fast too. Wind it up and it will shoot about 20 ft at least. Very sturdy, great size. Not a tiny matchbox size plane. This is a well build plane. My son is rough and the has lasted. Will probably buy another at some point.
