Lifesaver!
Bought this for caring for my elderly mother. She reached a point she could not stand on her own, and if I was using a gait belt to pull her to a stand, then there was nothing else I could do to transfer her, clean her, etc. as my mom is over 300 lbs. this sit to stand has been great at doing the job of getting her into a standing position and holding her while I take care of whatever is needed.I have some concern about the wheels not locking, seems like it could pose a huge safety hazard, but I’ve found ways around that causing any issues.Possibly due to my mom’s weight, but I find it very difficult to move her around while using this. I have come a long way in overcoming that by using the bar the harness attaches to rather than the grips that are supposed to be able to be used for maneuvering. Still don’t h feel confident in moving her very far (a few feet so I can put a commode under her, change pads in her chair, etc)All in all still giving 4 stars as without it (or *at least* 2 extra people), taking care of my mom would be 100% impossible.

Works well... wish I had ordered it sooner
So let me start out with saying this, as a home use product this is probably your best options. I purchased this for my mother whom I care for at home. I had compared it to the sling type lifts and decided on the Invacare Sit to Sand because of it's smaller size and because of the concept of hoisting a person up from under the arms to a standing position just looked to me like a better option. If your considering a "home" lift here are a few things you need to know about it, its big and heavy and comes un-assembled. My first issue was putting this thing together as the instructions are not clear (took me over an hour) and the company dose not post a assemble video on there web site or YouTube. Also because it's heavy it takes to people to put this thing together. Once I had it together it's was very sturdy and actually easy to operate. Next issue of discovering that I needed to move out some furniture as it's quite large at the base and the 3rd issue was carpet, it's hard to move over carpet and especially when someone is in it.On another note, I found this very beneficial when moving my 180 lb mother who's has mobility issues. My reason for buying the lift was due to one evening where my mother was unable to get herself of the toilet and I was unable to lift her and calling in the fire department to get your mother off the toilet is not something I want to experience again.I didn't have any previous experience on using one of these, had a nurse come over and train me on it which I recommend if this is the first time using one of these. Other than that It's very sturdy, super easy to use and it does the job well.

Back saver for me as a caregiver
My mom progressed to not being able to stand, so purchased this lift to care for her at home. It is a very good lift, and makes it easy to transfer her to wheelchair, bed, recliner, toilet. I have also used it to get her in and out of my civic in the driveway at home…wish we could bring it with us. It is harder to roll on carpet, but easier once I got the plastic office chair mats put down. One issue we are having is the sling that comes with it, My mom says her shoulders are sore after lifting her. We are working with a physical therapist for advice on adjusting the sling for her. Overall This lift is very helpful, and saves me from injury as I care for my mom.

This has been a livesaver
I purchased this lift to transfer my bedridden grandmother between her bed and the commode or wheelchair. We used to be able to use a traditional sit-to-stand lift (without the Hoyer-type lift) for transfers, but over the years she has grown too weak to assist in the process. We thought we'd transition to a traditional Hoyer lift, but my gram is deathly afraid of being suspended in the air and purposefully squirms out of every sling we've purchased to ease her fears. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. OF. THEM.Her lack of patience with the Hoyer lift we purchased and her refusal to allow us to use it had caused tension and resentment between her and those of us caring for her as she became resistant, verbally aggressive, and combative at times. This lift, however, has been our saving grace. With the ability to keep her feet planted on the floor (platform), Gram is more than happy to allow us to transfer her using it. In fact, yesterday, we left her on the commode with her sling still attached to the lift for additional back support, and I found her proudly attempting to pump herself back up into a standing position.I would highly recommend this product for anyone caring for a person who can't stand on their own. It makes the ordinarily back-breaking process of transferring a loved one a breeze. It's allowed us to return to some semblance of normalcy in caring for her and restored a much lighter atmosphere to our home. It's a bit pricey, but it's proven to have been our best investment so far.

Invacare said they don't deal directly with the public!
Unit seems to be decent however first unit arrived with a bad caster so I called Invacare for a replacement. That's when I learned that they don't normally deal with the public even though they sell these on Amazon and Walmart.com! Thanks to Amazon for their customer service they took care of it! Giving Five stars to Amazon!!

Very convenient for whatever type ofove inside the home
Is a very convenient daily mover for a disable person. Is Easy to assemble and very useful to prevent lifting.however, always make sure all parts and screws are inside before assembling. You don't want to encounter a missing piece almost at your half way build. I missed several screws that i needed to look for them at the homedepot specially if they are cimetrics. Aside from that is an excellent machine and a very good item to have at home if you have a disable person.
