Air Zuker Flameless Candle Battery Operated Flickering Candle Dancing LED Candle Real Wax Candle Motion Candle with Timer [Classic Pillar Candle, Ivory Color] - 3.5" X 7"

First this to give you some sense of the Seller, Air Zuker aka Josef. I ordered these new and larger candles b/c they ran on 2x C-cells vs. 3x AAA or 2x AA and were taller. The day they arrived I had an email from Josef explaining some mix-up regarding the box printing. The box may say 4, 5 & 6" 3x AAA (which I did not order b/c I had those) but the contents would be this new set of 5, 6 & 7" C-cell version (i.e. a printing error) Well they weren't. The packaging was indeed for a set of 4, 5 & 6" 3x AAA candles but the contents matched. This was some kind of supply-chain goof so within 2-days I not only had the correct set of 5, 6 & 7" 2x C-cell candles on my doorstep but was told to keep the "wrong" set as a gift. Wow!Now the candles: These are very, very lightly scented with something pleasantly familiar. They are not only taller than the more common set of 3, wide pillars by an inch but are also a full 3.5" in diameter. The flame color is the pleasing warm, pale yellow I personally like. The "random" undulations in "Candle" mode is just OK but all algorithms I've seen for the flickering in this mode could use more work. The Remote-to-Candle functions are done correctly - nothing weird. General body glow is good considering the wax thickness of these wide-body pillars. However, some of my first impressions taken using two fully-charged NiMH AA cells inserted into AA => C housings later changed. First impressions were that although these were very pretty, people might be kinda disappointed by the semi-low brightness, even when set on full-bright. Also, the flame motion was good but was really on the relaxed and lazy side. Hmmm. I could live with both behaviors, They could be reviewed as meant for darker environments and to expect a (possibly more realistic) lazy flame motion. Long story shorter I began to suspect that the total voltage from my two NiMH cells would start at about 2.75 volts fully charged vs. 3+ volts from two fresh alkaline C-cells - or two AA alkaline in C-cell carriers. When I put these candles on a bench supply it was very apparent that the brightness and flame activity are voltage-sensitive right at 3V and below. Bottom line is, these candles are very OK with fully-charged NiMH cells in the beginning but will fade in performance as the NiMH cells approached their native and strong, long-run cell voltage of ~1.25V each (2.5V total) and at that point, would no longer be acceptable. Lesson here is to indeed use alkaline C-cells. With all that techie gobble-de-gook said - easy 5-Stars.UPDATE: I now have my second set of these; have learned my lesson and now run with with what the Dr. ordered - Dollar store brand C-cells and all is very good. If one likes the idea of rechargeable NiMH they perform well in less-lit areas and the relaxed presentation may be preferred. Just try both ways.

The candles are real wax and the “flame” looks realistic when viewed from several feet away. The “flame” is an orange LED lit piece of flat white plastic that moves around.I bought this version of the Air Luker candles using C batteries to extend the battery change intervals. The AAA battery versions might be a bit cheaper but these batteries last considerably less. The C cell size can also accomodates AA’s having an adapter sleeve. C cells have approximately 4x capacity of AAA batteries, and about 2x of AAs. The batteries install upright in the candle so the shortest candle needs to be a little taller than the AAA version, although not as tall as the Luminara candle that uses D cells. Of course, a D cell candle is the king of long battery change interval.The magnetically excited plastic ”flame” seems too energetic. I placed a small ½” piece of cellophane tape a position just behind the “flame” piece to dampen out excessive motion. This dampening also reduces the LED light that misses the moving “flame” piece and splashes on the wall or ceiling.The remote works great to operate all 3 three candles together or separately. I like the timer’s versatility vs Luminara’s. When a timer is set the candle light pulses off briefly to confirm.There is also a brightness control: I count 15 levels of brightness and use a mid-level setting. Another button controls a candle mode option where the LED light also flickers, but this is not very realistic. Its flicker levels are too abrupt and repetitive to be useful. Fortunately, the constant on LED light mode works well enough with the moving flame.

EVERYONE who sees these candles displayed LOVES the ambiance they provide as they dance and dispel darkness in any space. They work great outside even in the wind, on the patio or porch for short periods, look enchanting after sunset in a window, amazing on a mantel, dresser, shelf, highlight a table centerpiece, in the bathroom, in the hallway, on the stairs, use to illumine artwork etc. I do move them around, all the time, where ever I am, as needed and everywhere they are placed, we absolutely LOVE how they improve the space. Family and friends are amazed to discover they are flame free candles as they do look genuine when lit, and create that milieu of peace, warmth and rest we like to create at home. At the PRIME price I can afford to get another set and extra C-Cell battery's, for the home, a must "give" gift for someone you know who loves, nightlights, or candles.So if you have young children, know elderly or handicapped, have pets or just want the look and feel of candles at home, these worry-free flame-less candles will be a perfect solution to your home or business. I don't use them on the timer but the remote works well, so far. I would like the option to purchase additional remotes as I don't often display them in a trio. If you purchase a set of these candles with the extended C-Cell batteries you should not be disappointed with the warmth of ambiance THEY DO provide. From one candle lover to another ENJOY them at night, during the fall and winter seasons, holidays, family or friendly gatherings, they are sure to set a pleasant tranquil mood. Well worth the PRIME price, for three of this kind of quality flame-less candles. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! I do regret NOT seeing I could have purchased a set of six for a few dollars more than my set of three with Amazon PRIME.
