These are much larger than the snails I used in my restaurants, measuring about 1" in diameter. It is more common to see snails 1/2 this size but I was pleasantly surprised at the texture of this brand. They were not at all chewy as another reviewer stated. Chances are that person overcooked the crap out of them.I came to realize that most people like the butter and cheese (I use gruyere) that are generally melted over the top of this French delicacy more than the actual animal flesh itself. That being said, find online an escargot butter recipe that suits your taste, RINSE these little guys before you assemble the baking dish, top them up, and chomp 'em down until you've had your fill!I will probably buy these again but in a smaller size if available.

Repeated orders when supply went low.
Repeated orders when supply went low. No bad experience yet. This is going to be my Xmas gifts to people I love (hey, I am a cheap guy :D).Whole head (or 2, if you are really into garlic; for me, I can never have too much garlic) of garlic, smashed and coarsely chopped.Melt 1/2 bar of butter.Take pan off heat.Put the garlic in. Wait a few second. Put pan back on heat.Drain liquid from can, put the escargot into the pan. Wait for a minute or two. Splash of Maggi or soy sauce or salt (I prefer Maggi). Add pepper if you have it. Splash of lemon juice if you have it. Fresh coarsely chopped parsley. Continue with heat 'til parsley wilted. Take off heat.Optional step, cut the escargot pieces into 3 to 4 smaller pieces for the purpose of prolonging the experience — I usually serve 4+ people w/ 1 can.Put the cut pieces on a plate. Pour over the sauce from the pan. Put more fresh coarsely chopped parsley on top.Serve with oven-warmed baguette that are thinly sliced. If you are with friends and family, don't forget to take the sliced bread and soak up the bottom of the plate. My experience is that Trader Joe's $3.99 red or white or zinfandel pair well. If you happen to have white, I imagine that a splash into the pan will enhance (I have not done this) the flavor. And again, you have my permission and approval to pair Trader Joe's different variety of wine with this dish.Totally tangential to this, I have found that even though I bought Trader Joe's wine for the purpose of cooking, I've been drinking more and more of it thinking that it is better than the higher priced wine I can afford. Hopefully, this review does not increase the demand for Trader Joe's wines and take away my favorite great-for-when-unemployed wines.Enjoy.

Pleasantly surprised
I never had snails before and I was admittedly nervous to try them..esp after seeing them..but they were actually really darn good! They reminded me of soft creamy mushroomy clams.. but MUCH BETTER and they went really well with risotto. I would most definitely recommend everyone who likes seafood and mushrooms to try them!!! Even my kid ate 2 of them and she doesn't like seafood or mushrooms..so..that should tell you something. I thought they were easy to cook too. I just rinsed, then sprayed them with olive oil & sprinkled lightly with garlic salt & put them in oven for 12 mins at 350 degrees. I've already ordered more. I found a new fav!

Really Good
They were delicious. Make sure to rinse them well. We prepared them as suggested on the can in an escargot dish. They were restaurant quality.

Escargot! Mmmmmm
2nd time I've bought these, very tasty, quite large, too. Someone else told me they are too slimy, but then I found out they just cooked them straight out of the can without rinsing them off first. Ew! Who does that??
