TAMIYA1/48 Japanese Hayate Frank Type 4 TAM61013 Plastic Models Airplane 1/48

While, unlike other Tamiya models that i have done, I had to use some body putty on this one. It had a combination of raised and recessed panel lines. Even though i had to put a little more work into building this one, I was still pleased with the finished product.

Good kit for the money

You get many paint and decal options as well as a fairly detailed kit. I have built 3 Ki 84s so far and used many of the spare hinomarus as replacements on some of my other WW2 Japanese planes.

Very basic kit with not much cockpit detail.

This item arrived on time & in undamaged condition. I was very pleased with this kit. I enjoy the variety of the different Japanese fighter aircraft available, other than the typical Japanese "Zero". My son & I enjoy, putting all the various fighter aircraft, of all the nations involved, together.

This particular kit from Tamiya dates from the '70's in terms of the molds. That being said, it still builds into a fine model of one of Japan's ultimate piston engine fighters.I first built this kit a number of years ago and recall it going together very nicely with little fuss at all. No filler was used. I settled on building it out of the box and went with the markings for Staff Sergeant Naito of the Kurai Unit, 502 Temporary Interception Corps based at Nakatsu Airfield March-May of '45. I used Testors paints for the interior and external underside, and IJA Green by Tamiya for the exterior upper side.As time's gone by, I'm now looking at buying the kit yet again, this time to build the natural metal version of the Hayate.Thought these kits are upwards of 40 years old, they build fine and can be handled by novice or expert alike. I highly recommend the kit to anyone interested in the Nakajima Ki 84 Hayate.
