If I can do it! Great product and company.
I am 76 and not what you would call any where useful with tools. I have been promised for over a year that a contractor would fix my door frame. Sheltered at home I tried to get others to come - "Too busy." I had the time so I tackled it. If I screwed up I would have had to pay someone anyway. It took about an hour to cut out old wood and install FrameSaver. I did see a Youtube where the guy used a "Multi-tool" to cut out wood. I bought a Ryobi 18 volt tool at HD. Super fast - best tool I have ever bought. I highly recommend looking at Youtube videos on it. I did have a problem/question when I received the Framesaver. The company bent over backwards to help me. If I can do it, you can! Framesaver is great. I super recommend. So, I have a fixed door frame, a neat tool and satisfaction that I could do it - and saved money! The company is great and it is in the USA - made in North Carolina. You will need plastic wood, shims, nails, paint, caulking. DO IT!

Precut threshold angle and no more logo stamp
Having three exterior double doors whose frames have had rot at the bottom, I far prefer using FrameSaver to replacing the entire jambs, particularly since in my case I had to cut the areas to receive the hinges into the jambs. The Betterdoor company has made two recent changes: the embossed stamp that reviewers were unhappy with is gone, and the product now comes with an angled cut already made for the threshold. I must have been one of the very last customers to buy the previous version, because when I was ready to install, there were no instructions in the box with the product, and both the printed online instructions and the online video showed differences from what I had in hand. When I contacted the company, I have to say I had one of the most positive customer service experiences I can recall, culminating in their shipping me the new version at no charge.I appreciate the support that this company provides: a good set of printed instructions came with the product, and if you prefer watching someone do the repair, their video is excellent and up-to-date. Their customer service representative was top of the line. And for those who like to buy US-made products, the printed instructions state that it is "made in the USA".

Good for what it is
This was the first time buying this product, so some of these comments are just my personal opinion based on what I expected vs what I got.The GOOD:+It seems to be decent quality. Definitely not flimsy.+The vertical shape/profile fit perfectly with my existing frame.+It has the weatherstripping groove already cut as well.+Cheaper than replacing the entire door frame. The BAD:-Since it goes on top of the door sill, you need to PERFECTLY cut both the door frame, and the product itself for it to fit. This was very tedious to measure and cut correctly.Other notes:The product needs to be cut at an angle to perfectly match the slope of your door sill. I was just expecting the product to already have one side cut at an angle since the sole purpose of the product is to go at the bottom of the door frame.

Buyer Beware
The product received did the job described . However, it created additional work to use. This arrogant company engraves an advertisement into the composite section of the product . You must grind down the raised letters then fill and sand the surface to get a smooth finish. You wonder why they waste the money to prime the exterior surface. See photo - Buyer beware

Should be a longer lasting alternative to a new wood door frame
I installed this for the back door at a rental home that I recently bought. The bottom of the door jamb was rotted. I cut out the old jamb with an oscillating saw and dropped this in with some fiberglass resin. Good caulk would also be fine.. Solved the problem for now though I also noticed that the door itself had rot on the core so I had to patch that with a piece of wood and fiberglass resin.

Finally a Great Long Term Solution
Despite annual attempts to fill and repaint our 3 exterior door jambs, they would fall apart and peel down at the threshold level very quickly. I read about these repair kits and was very anxious to get them installed. I had a trim carpenter do the repairs because I wanted them to look as close to new as possible. He had never heard of this system and had obviously not put one in, but he really liked the way that they work and by the 3rd door, he got very fast at the repair. I just sanded and painted them yesterday and they look great. I have no doubt that my problem is solved. I wish that all OEM door frames had this system to begin with which would save all of the grief as the doors age. I HIGHLY recommend this product.

Great product to fix and stop rot problems from reoccurring
Living in Florida one of the problems you find is exterior wood framed walk thru garage doors all rot on bottom of frames due to the large amount of rain in a short time and water always pooling on the side walks or cement patios. Instead of replacing the entire frame all you need to do measure up from floor 8" remove the old piece of frame and secure these in place. I did used caulk on top, bottom and behind the new piece to keep unwanted water from seeping into places.

No need to worry
I realized after reading the reviews for this product that almost every possession I own has some marking or emblem from the manufacturer on it. This one doesn't come with that anymore, and even if it did, no big deal. 5-star product. Primed nicely with detailed instructions in case you've never dealt with door jambs before.
